The future is the orphanage, where the cherished desires which heart is giving birth to today will be abandoned and forgotten. Time has forced us to live three different selves, a past self, a present self, and a future self and none of these three selves share the same desires.
The self is a trinity of conflicts, having a past, a present, and a future
self that will never meet each other, yet are forced to live the consequences of each other outdated desires. Though our past, present, and future self are related to the same being, time has distant their realities, causing them to have conflicted desires. So while chasing desires, we should bear in mind that the desires which give our present self pleasure may cause our future self pain.
When desires are born, they resemble pleasure, but when they age, they resemble pain. While chasing the pleasures of present desires, we're also running from past desires which often haunt us with regrets. By the time we near the fulfillment of our desires, our future self will be chasing desires anew.
Desires are the bridges between a person's three broken and incomplete selves, past self, present self, and future self, longing to make them whole. As long as the one self lives apart as three, unwhole, and incomplete, conflicting desires will arise from their brokenness. When the self is broken into incomplete pieces, the heart also becomes broken with scattered desires.
Time is checkpoint on the journey of life which forces us to orphan past self and past desires before we can continue our journey of life.
As long as the hands of time keep our past, present, and future self apart from each other, there will come a point where our present self and its desires will be left behind as orphans forever lost on the road of life.
