"I know that one day, we will see her play in person! Do you think that we should keep our tickets where they were, or change them up? I just found a code that will save us 5o percent if we buy them today."
"Tess, I don't know why you are always so hopeful! Our games have been cancled every time we get tickets for the last two games! How many more times can this go on? I am about to say forget it, and if we get a chance to see her later, I'll take that opportuunity. Until then though, I'll stick to watching Lannee on TV."
Tess looks at the second girl with bright round brown eyes. "Why? We went through this last time Gwenine! I don't care. I will try as many times as it takes to get tickets to go see Lannee. When I do, if you don't help me pick out the seats, you aren't coming." Gwenine thinks it over which isn't the reaction Tess was hoping for. "Are you kidding me? Do you remember last time when you were in the hospital and I came to visit you? You said that everything you have wanted to go to has been cancled because you were sick. Do you remember what I did for you then? I brought you all your friends and a cake and streamers and we had the best party ever! I made it work then didn't I? Can't you just trust me to make it work this time?"
Gwenine looks at Tess with determination all over her face. "Let's do this." So they bought the tickets and waited.
Over the next few days, Gwenine was over at Tess's house a lot more than usual because they were both waiting to hear who would be playing in the first quarter, or the dreaded news, that the game had been cancled.
Tess's mom walked in the room baring a tray of warm cookies. "Are you two still waiting on that? Come on! Let's all take a break and go downstairs and talk about something else for a change." She says taking a look at the two of them sitting at Tess's desk and not looking away from the screen.
"No thanks mom, we're good. They said they were going to make an announcment at 2:30, and it's 2:31. Any second, we could have the greatest news we've heard all day, or the worst news we've heard all day." All the sudden, there was a chirp and a message popped up on the screen. Both girl look at each other and squeal.
"This could be it!"
"Or bad news!"
"Either way-"
"We've been waiting all day! That ryhmed." They let out a little giggle, still grinning, and turn to the computer.
"Nooooooooo! It got cancled again!" Gwenine yells looking as if she is about to kick something! "We've waited so long! How can this keep happening!"
Tess looks at her and asks her a question that changes their friendship forever. "Are you giving up?"
