On the Plate
A couple prepares to dine on an unusual meal.
Jolter Lister looked skeptical. He pushed at the flesh on his plate.
“This was someone’s Welsh corgi and British shorthair.”
His female companion, Aldina, had already bitten into the dog and cat. Her eyes rolled back in her head.
“This is so good. Goddamn! Why did it take so long for Americans to fry up some housepets?!” she asked with enthusiasm.
Lister raised up from his seat. And rushed to the restroom.
“Are you going to eat yours?” Aldina called after him.
“Have it!”
Aldina shrugged. She scraped his food onto her plate. She savored the tenderness, the well-seasoned meals.

The Color Thief
It was a colorless world. The gray skies of winter not the grey days themselves, but this was the place, where everything, even pleasure, had turned black and white and grey. The streets where life was once rich now lay quiet away in monotony. There were now those gardens that bloomed with reds, yellows and purples, but now lay dead, with leaves rotting to dust, and under the earth the flowers could not be differentiated. Laughter also had lost its sound, and in its place was a hollow echo, which felt as though standing right behind your ears.
