I have been here for three years alone.

I am fascinated seeing the light in the night sky being Earth, my home planet.

I came here with the crew to explore and look for minerals other valuables, as well as evidence of old alien civilisations or visitors.

Three years ago they left and left me to continue exploring and sending data back to Earth, and if I found anything substantial they would come back to investigate it and possibly take it back with them to Earth.

Whether they would take me is another question.

I am just here to find things and share them.

When I knew I was coming I was excited, and when I got here I was even more excited, but now life has become humdrum. I still do my work diligently and efficiently, but I have a feeling that I have found and reported everything there is to share.

May an alien spaceship will land or crash or a meteor or comet may hit (as long as it is not too near me).

I do my job well and never complain to those on Earth but I feel that I have been sentenced to an eternity of boredom. This would be a living hell for any intelligent sentient being.

In the past humans treated the Moon as a goddess, Celene, Luna. Others suggested it was made of green cheese but it's not. Teams like ours found out what was really here, mostly craters and dust with some extras.

The remains of the Apolo missions are still here, and I sometimes visit them for company, and to remember where I came from and when I felt valued and happy.

So I don't know how long I will be here.

I know it is June and the Americans call the Full Moon this month the Strawberry Moon because that is when Strawberry picking starts.

Maybe one of my solar panels will fail, and then I will die, or maybe I will go on forever.

Life is lonely being a Moon Service Robot.

Each day I hope that I will discover something special.

Strawberry moon, interesting. poor robot, soon he will rust and probably fall apart. Hopefully he gets some company.

Very well orchestrated to the revelation that the narrator is a robot! Such a fitting melancholy tone!

  • Oh wow, I didn't expect him to be a robot. I thought it was a human. I wish I can go accompany him

  • I liked moonwind but reading this I kept hearing Rocketman and Space oddity
