- Intent as Fond-Goof: Whew amazing accomplishment -
No time for skipping rope - stepping out in the rain twirling her Brolly ☂️ alas she'd go insane not balancing on her walking Schtick: Or even doing her knitting, never to drop a stitch, favorite pastime. I mean who could write a meaningful - with Vigor - piece every day for a year? Only our Vocal Village BunkMate, Rachel ..!
What did she win? Talk about betting on herself to an extreme. Never a Quitter - Huff & Puff I know I can. Self gratification to the max, along with the support of her fans 'egging' her on. My drawing depicts a 'Goof' on her as she sat in her threadbare housecoat and slippers typing away; tossing not-good-enough ideas around the room. I suppose she'll be shopping at her local thrift store for less-worn's. She has a trade-in-thread-worn arrangement on Schmatas.
I don't think that people go to the Thrift stores just to save money; thanks for breaking them in for me. Imagine after a year of taking coffee spilling and dripping with food abuse slathered onto your house coat; along with stubbing your toes and not having your comfy slippers to go to. They're like family. It's a hard 'No' not to bring in stiff new attire - not homey enough - and who am I trying to impress anyway.
Family advantages: 1st time in a year her 'Boys' won't be eating Microwaved Mac & Cheese or stacks of leftovers defrosted from the Fridge: Multiple Take out menus attached onto the fridge door. Freezer frozen pizza 🍕 slices & who knows what leftovers stacked high along with every type of junk food imaginable combined on one plate; everything goes down the same Pie-Hole anyway.
Not to mention the missed meaningful 'Mum' full attention interactions. Such as 'shut the Fridge door' along with Get-Lost-Will Ya's comments, "Honey, I'm in the middle of writing a sentence, you'll have my full attention; just ask me that on Jan 1st." Game shows film all the (5) daily week showings in one day. Quick clothing changes each episode giving the illusion that each stage show is spontaneous. Subliminal techniqe I suppose.
Rachel is a multi-talented author. As she is writing a new story, her 'Alter Ego' may be compiling data for her next topic, or she may be keeping her sequels fresh with a change of scenery or point of view. All of us should be taking notes on her process as we admire her productive creativity. Bravo Rachel — Consider it Done —

Well done, Rachel, even as I know you've had to begin anew after a sick spell. And thanks for lifting her up, Jay!

From an also-ran to the two other runners, well deserved to both of you. See y'all on the flip side of 2025, coming soon to a post near you.

🤩 Such a nice thing you’ve done here, J-bud. Rachel is definitely a force to be reckoned with and you were the perfect messenger! Loved the artwork and the usual schtick!
Dear Jay This is wonderful. You really made it to where I feel like I know Rachel. Thanks for sharing this piece with us. Sincerely Mother Combs
I’m so impressed by the writers who have stuck with this challenge like Rachel and LC
Jay - We enjoy your "Goof" stories (your word). You are an observer, and that's what makes a great storyteller. We look forward to reading more of your stories next year - Beth Shalom Sister Hood.
Jay - I have read everything you have written since I got on Vocal, no exceptions :) It's a great Ode and Rachel is really a lovely person. Celia and the paws🐾 and River too 💜
J - Can't imagine anyone comparable to Rachel as a writer. But, you captured her tumult hands down on the old Corona type writer - G
J - Your description of Rachel made her come to life - So enjoyable to read - Fay
Ah, a worthy recipient for such an ode! Excellent work, both of you.
Bravo for sure, a challenge like this is not a walk in the park. At least I cannot imagine myself doing it, I'd rather have the knitting every day challenge!
Aw wonderful. Rachel really is a wonderful Vocal bucket contributor and all round fabulous human. 💜Awesome drawing as always - love it! 💜
Lovely dedication, Jay. I love how Rachel also brought the other microfictionists to light - L.C., Gerard! 💕 I love the creative art - as always.
Excellent effort by all three… keeping the stories coming daily for the entire year… the end is in sight 🧐.✅
Awwww. Lovely tribute. You are spot on in that Rachel is the epitome of productive creativity. I don't know how she does it!
If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, who does a story a day fob off? Our high school Grammar Teacher, perhaps? In any event, a well-wrought dedication to a literary artiste here, Jay!
Nice!! Well done. Your stick art is not like anyone else! True art and fun! 😊💕
Spectacular ode to Rachel who is keeping her Vocal promise and goal. She definitely deserves this humorous tribute and microfiction tale. Both of you are super talented and deserve special recognition!!! Sending hugs!!!❤️❤️💕
"Honey, I'm in the middle of writing a sentence, you'll have my full attention; just ask me that on Jan 1st." Hahahahahahahahaha that made me laugh so much! Such a wonderful ode to Super Rach. That's what I call her hehehe
This is a wonderful ode, Jay. Thank you for pointing me in Rachel's direction as I look forward to reading some of her work!
It is a promise she kept - to Vocal and herself - with follow-through that required huge dedication despite day-to-day commitments. Nice ode, J. I commend the 3 writers who continued bravely posting their pieces daily.
