Ode to Rachel Deeming

- Intent as Fond-Goof: Whew amazing accomplishment -

No time for skipping rope - stepping out in the rain twirling her Brolly ☂️ alas she'd go insane not balancing on her walking Schtick: Or even doing her knitting, never to drop a stitch, favorite pastime. I mean who could write a meaningful - with Vigor - piece every day for a year? Only our Vocal Village BunkMate, Rachel ..!

What did she win? Talk about betting on herself to an extreme. Never a Quitter - Huff & Puff I know I can. Self gratification to the max, along with the support of her fans 'egging' her on. My drawing depicts a 'Goof' on her as she sat in her threadbare housecoat and slippers typing away; tossing not-good-enough ideas around the room. I suppose she'll be shopping at her local thrift store for less-worn's. She has a trade-in-thread-worn arrangement on Schmatas.

I don't think that people go to the Thrift stores just to save money; thanks for breaking them in for me. Imagine after a year of taking coffee spilling and dripping with food abuse slathered onto your house coat; along with stubbing your toes and not having your comfy slippers to go to. They're like family. It's a hard 'No' not to bring in stiff new attire - not homey enough - and who am I trying to impress anyway.

Family advantages: 1st time in a year her 'Boys' won't be eating Microwaved Mac & Cheese or stacks of leftovers defrosted from the Fridge: Multiple Take out menus attached onto the fridge door. Freezer frozen pizza 🍕 slices & who knows what leftovers stacked high along with every type of junk food imaginable combined on one plate; everything goes down the same Pie-Hole anyway.

Not to mention the missed meaningful 'Mum' full attention interactions. Such as 'shut the Fridge door' along with Get-Lost-Will Ya's comments, "Honey, I'm in the middle of writing a sentence, you'll have my full attention; just ask me that on Jan 1st." Game shows film all the (5) daily week showings in one day. Quick clothing changes each episode giving the illusion that each stage show is spontaneous. Subliminal techniqe I suppose.

Rachel is a multi-talented author. As she is writing a new story, her 'Alter Ego' may be compiling data for her next topic, or she may be keeping her sequels fresh with a change of scenery or point of view. All of us should be taking notes on her process as we admire her productive creativity. Bravo Rachel — Consider it Done —

Jay - We enjoy your "Goof" stories (your word). You are an observer, and that's what makes a great storyteller.    We look forward to reading more of your stories next year - Beth Shalom Sister Hood.

If an apple a day keeps the doctor away, who does a story a day fob off? Our high school Grammar Teacher, perhaps? In any event, a well-wrought dedication to a literary artiste here, Jay!

It is a promise she kept - to Vocal and herself - with follow-through that required huge dedication despite day-to-day commitments. Nice ode, J. I commend the 3 writers who continued bravely posting their pieces daily.
