Introduction

For Liam Storm's "Time Travel - An Unofficial Challenge" which you can see here:

Now Then

If only they had done this or hadn't done that everything would have been OK, but that happened then and this was now in the wreckage of what had happened.

They were told of a spell that could return them to the exact position they were in before the fateful events took place. They were told to consider this very carefully as they needed to take stock of what would happen if time was rolled back for them like that.

There would be no chance of their present self being in the same place as their past self because, for them, time would be rolled back. They would be in exactly the same place they were when they made their fateful choices.

To them, this was a no-brainer, they would cast the spell and go back in time. All that mattered was that they go back and make the right choices this time.

They gathered together all that was required to cast the spell that would cast them back to before those fateful moments and then proceeded to make the chant and drink the required elixirs to take them back to fix the catastrophic events.

Drifting, that was how they felt as they went back in time, finally waking before those disastrous decisions.

What they had not considered was that they would be in exactly the same place and situation that they had been, with exactly the same knowledge, unaware of the effect that their decisions would have, and of course, they took exactly the same steps they took the first time resulting in the same disastrous consequences.

Traveling in time gives no quarter under any circumstances.

Time will not countenance change.

Interesting take… I agree, it would go down the same way, over and over.

The thought of time travel frightens me....I think it would always make things worse if interfered with. You gave me food for thought

There was a tv show titled 'Quantum Leap' where the main character would 'leap' into other people to help them solve something that is not quite right for them to figure out and Sam does that for them and leaps out to another point in his history. This is what this story reminded me of. Good job.

  • If we could turn back time, would it improve things or make them worse? A great question! A lot of room for introspection here!
