My Greatest Heist
Stealing the one thing that everyone wants.
The plan was meticulous and the date had been set. I had spent each waking moment with countless scenarios playing through my head. This was to be my greatest heist and on that day, I cannot begin to tell you the anxiety that played havoc with my mind.
The venue was dimly lit with candles that sent shadows flickering across the walls. The air was heavy with the aroma of different continental dishes laid out across tables and sat across from me was my partner in crime. Unaware that her actions that night would decide the course of my future forever.
I remember feeling a bead of sweat run down the back of my neck as nerves started to get the better of me. I do not think I hid it well as she looked at me with a knowing smile, leaned forward and then whispered the secret code into my ear.
I knew then that I had pulled it off. I had stolen the most valuable treasure of all. I had stolen her heart. As I looked deep into her eyes and repeated those words back, I knew she had also stolen mine.
