Much Ado About Chicken

This is for the Vocal "Micro Heist" Challenge: The Prompt Write a microfiction story about a heist in exactly 200 words.

By Mike Singleton 💜 Mikeydred Published 3 years ago 1 min read

He was gullible.

He had ended up in the back of police vans so many times because his associates told him about places that were easy to steal from. They gave him instructions and guffawed loudly when he got caught. They often watched his failures and when he told the police about what had happened they just denied everything.

A new chicken fast food shop had opened in town "Los Pollos Hermanos", chicken with a Mexican treatment, which was exotic for this town.

They told him that the chicken was stored just inside the back door which never got locked.

He took them at their word, not thinking of their past performance.

The back door was unlocked. There were polythene sacks filled with packs of chicken. He wondered why they weren't in a freezer.

He picked up two and was walking to the back door when he got tripped.

One bag split and two of the boxes exploded in clouds of white powder.

Tripper: "We got a thief, and he has wasted two of our packs, do I waste him?"

Gus Fring: "Yeah, then put him through the mincer"

This was his last attempted heist, this time it was fatal.
