"Still no sign of Director Anderson or Colonel Armstrong waking up. They have been in a coma since the ship docked six months ago. These two seem to be the only ones in PVS (permanent vegetative state) while any time the mercenaries and/or scientists talk about the island just go into a deep sleep. With the exception of Edgar who is currently suffering from sleep paralysis. There's still no medical reason why any of them are suffering this way. Will continue to monitor and run tests until we find out what's wrong", Dr. Irons' said into his tape recorder.
Dr. Elliot comes into the room to ask, "Still no sign of either one of them regaining consciousness?" Dr. Irons replies, "Still nothing." Dr. Elliot takes a quick look at their charts to see no changes. He also makes a comment about Dr. Irons, "You look like shit, let's get some coffee." With a shrug Dr. Irons follows Dr. Elliot down the hall to the break room.
Just as they were about to sit down to enjoy their coffees the sound of someone yelling, "She did it, Dr. Spring finally did it." They both got up quickly to run into the hall. Both asked together, "What did she do?" Dr. Smith who isn't exactly a runner came down the hall saying, "Dr. Spring she, she cracked the DNA." Both doctors had a look of shock on their faces before following Dr. Smith down the hall to Project Director Ripley's office. Both Doctors were thinking We've been working around the clock for over 10 years trying to figure out what to do with that goop and she finally cracked the DNA code.
Dr. Smith reached the door to knock twice while Dr. Irons and Elliot halted to a stop. Barely a second passed before a deep feminine voice said, "Come in." All doctors came into the office looking over at Ripley who has not met any of their eyes. Keeping her eyes on the computer screen she asks, "What is so important that you had to disturb me while I am working?" Dr. Smith steps forward to say, "She did it, Dr. Spring finally did it." With those words being said she takes her eyes off the screen to look at Dr. Smith.
Ripley asks, "She finally did what exactly? Why are you the one here talking to me and not Dr. Spring herself?" With all eyes on Dr. Smith he explained, "I actually went to relieve Dr. Spring, she has been working for a few days straight. That's when I saw the positive results on the computer screen she cracked the DNA due to subject zero."
Ripley got out of her chair quickly while saying, "Where is Dr. Spring now?" Dr. Irons being closest to the door held it open while everyone followed Dr. Smith. They all walked down the hall is silence until Dr. Smith opened Dr. Spring office door. Ripley entered the room first to see positive results for the first time. Looking to Dr. Spring she said, "You've really done it Doctor." Dr. Spring replied, "Looks like I have, we should get started on the project now."
Ripley put her hand on Dr. Spring's shoulder to say, "I heard and can see that you've been burning the candle at both ends. I want you to go get some sleep and eat a proper meal before the project can begin. We need you in top shape. No excuses." Dr. Spring tried to protest then Ripley interrupted, "Don't lie to me, go get some sleep now or I'll have one of the mercenaries take you to your room." Dr. Spring's face drops ever so slightly she knew that it was pointless to argue with Ripley. With a quick nod she gets up off the chair to get out of the room, avoiding every male's touch until she's in her room. Using the last bit of energy Dr. Spring laid down on the bed fully clothed, falling into a deep sleep that lasted a whole day.
Ripley had Dr. Smith and Irons double check the results and review Dr. Springs work. After two days of reviewing the results that continued to come out positive all three doctors began working on the project. Using subject zero's DNA scarcely they were able to create 13 clones.
Just as Project Replacement has finally begun Ripley contacts some orphanages to get Project Hybrid started.
