Memory Market! A Heartbreak story (Part-1)
A journey from dusk to dawn
I was sad, wandering through the streets of my hometown. There were different two-story antique shops with old rust-colored doors and rusted shelters. The road was well-constructed, and beside the roads, there were footpaths almost 5 inches above the ground. The sky was flooded with clouds. I was wearing a long camel-colored coat, tight brown jeans, a hat, and long black shoes. Yup, I approximately looked like a cowboy.
Oh, I didn't tell you why I was sad. I went through a breakup, and the reason behind it was that my boyfriend was interested in a wealthy girl. He cheated on me. I was roaming here and there and didn’t want to go home; I didn’t want to overthink while lying on my bed. I was trying to console myself by saying that ‘’you deserve better’’.
Then, I entered one of the antique shops as it was too bright. Tons of lights were glowing like fireflies on the ceiling. The entire shop was painted with a shiny golden color. A big chandelier was hung in the middle of the shop. On the sides, antiques were present, including paintings, utensils, skeletons, knives, guns, old tools, etc. With the wall opposite the entrance, two spiral staircases were present, one on each end of the wall. Every employee was well-dressed like a waiter at a 5-star hotel, wearing white gloves, a white three-piece suit with a golden vest."
I was surprised by the view. I was staring at the beautiful ceiling for 5 minutes, but then an employee approached me.
‘’Ma’am do you want anything’’ Employee questioned.
‘’No, I was just……’’ I replied nervously, my eyes on the chandelier.
"Ma'am, I think you are captivated by the beauty of the shop, if you want to know about anything then let me know." She said.
"Oh, thank you! I... I will definitely ask you if I have any queries," I replied.
‘’Welcome Ma’am’’ She replied and left.
I started looking at the antiques on the left table, which was positioned next to the entrance. The first section displayed a variety of old guns, ranging from small pocket firearms to large shotguns, all beautifully arranged in a mirrored cube illuminated with white LEDs beneath it.
As I was walking, I entered the painting section. Beautiful paintings were decorated on the walls. The wall was green colored only for this section. The combination of golden and green looked super cool. As I saw the first painting, on its description it was written that “ Don't be sad because of the hardships you face, the difficult situations you go through, the sadness you feel, due to people that leaves. You won't believe, I drew this painting after a heartbreak (my first breakup) and now it costs enough to be placed in an antique shop”.
On the blank white paper, an old maid was drawn, wearing a purple dress like Snow White and a scarf tied to her head. She was holding a broken watch, which I believe represented her heart. Our situations resonated so much that tears came to my eyes.
I liked the description. I also wanted to express my emotions, but I didn't know how to do it. I have cried a lot; I wanted to distract myself. That's why I was roaming like a psychopath, going where my heart took me.
