(Bryson pulls up)

" It's been a while. " says Roger (standing in the doorway)

" 5 years, I was 16. the first time I saw you, visited; came with my parents. "

" How old are you? "

" 21. "

" Where's your parents? "

" On a trip. "

" It's just you? "

" Yes. I didn't want to go. "

(Casey appears in the doorway beside Roger) "You can put your stuff in the guest room and help us decorate the house. "

" Decorate? "

" Halloween is in 10 days. "

" I don't like to decorate. "

" It's easy. "

" Christmas is my favorite holiday. I'm not 16 anymore. "

" We're not going to argue. "

" Stay in the guest room until we finish decorating."

" Okay. " (Bryson puts two suitcases and a brown bag in the guest room.)

THREE HOURS LATER

" We're done, you can sit in the living room. " Both grandparents / Roger and Casey say / said.

(Bryson walks in the living room)

" You only decorated the living room? "

" We thought we had enough (Halloween supplies) to decorate the whole house. "

" Do you have candy? "

" Two bags of Skittles. "

" Give it to the children. They'll take it. It's Halloween."

" Maybe. "

(Bryson’s cell phone rings)

" Hello. "

(Heather answers)

" What are you doing? "

" Talking to my grandparents. "

" You went to Virginia? "

" I arrived this morning."

(Heather laughs)

" Okay. "

(Bryson’s face changes)

" What's funny? "

" Your father is trying to interact with Macaws. "

" Macaws? "

" Macaws are colorful birds. Primarily found in Mexico."

" You and dad went to Mexico? "

" No, we went to Venezuela. Macaws are also found in Venezuela, Central and South America. "

" I never heard of the species.”

" We'll be back in two weeks. "

(Dan picks up the phone)

" I'll make a video and send it to you. "

" Okay. "

" Your grandparents can watch it too.”

" When will you be back? "

" In a month. “

". If you want a Christmas present, don’t stay too long. "

(Bryson smiles)

" I won’t. "

" Bye. "

(Heather hangs up her cellphone.)

Roger speaks " Who was it? “

" Mom and dad. They went to Venezuela; interacting with Macaws "

" I heard of Macaws, tropical birds. "

" Dad is making a video. "

" We’ll watch it later. “(Roger leaves the living room. Casey stands up.)

" Can you put the candy in the bowl? "

"Yeah. "

(Bryson stands and follows his grandmother into the kitchen).

(Halloween night)

" Trick- or – treat. "

Three children say in unison.

(Casey opens the door)

" Happy Halloween. I have Skittles, take a handful. "

" Did they take the candy?"

" Yeah. "

"I watched the video dad made. "

" Was it funny?"

" Some of it. "

"I'll watch it later. "

Three Days Later

(Afternoon)

“Surprise!"

" You said you will be back in two weeks. "

" We changed our mind. Thanksgiving and Christmas are in a month. " says Heather

" We have a Macaw. "

" Really? “

" Yeah. "

Dan walks to a car and grabs a bird in a cage. out of the back seat. " McCaw." It said,

Bryson’s visit wasn’t that bad after all.
