Lovelexic

To be lovelexic is to intentionally misinterpret another's feelings for you in a way that inflates them and encourages them to be real when they are not; typically a tactic to avoid accepting the truth and feeling hurt

Tika sighed, staring out the window at the open field beside her office. She was thinking about her daughter who was having some trouble in school. Brielle was infatuated with a boy in her class and insisted he was in love with her every time she spoke to Tika about him. It was easy to tell she was obsessed, but Tika had witnessed their interactions and couldn't say the same for this boy.

"What's got you down?" her coworker Angelica questioned.

"Brielle. She's still obsessed with this Richy guy, insists he said he loves her too. I dunno if he said it, but he sure doesn't act it. I think he's just using her for something, but I can sort out what. It's obvious he doesn't like her like that and she just refuses to see it."

"You know a lot of young girls are like that though."

"Yeah, but it's crazy. He shows how he feels about her with the way he ignores and overlooks her in favor of the more popular "pretty" girls. It hurts my heart to see her love someone so hard and refuse to acknowledge he doesn't love her. It's like she's... Like dyslexic almost, seeing things all backwards."

"Lovelexic." Angelica chuckled. "I'll come over tonight and we'll talk to her, just us ladies."

"That sounds nice, girl, thanks. Lets bust this girl out of her lovelexic spell." Tika laughed, glad for the support of her friend, and her silly new word.
