Love in the Time of Wrestling
A Valentine's Day tale about a women's wrestling star's encounter with her biggest admirer
Combat Women's Wrestling had been in business for 14 years, and one of the promotion's big stars was Lena Pierce, nicknamed "The Iron Maiden" for her strong resolve. She had been wrestling for five years and boasted an impressive record in the ring, and had appeared to have seen it all in her time in the ring, until about a month ago.
Shortly after CWW's big event, Rumble in the Rockies, in Denver, Lena found herself face-to-face with a new foe, a villainess who only referred to herself as "Seductress." Seductress was dressed entirely in pink; a bodysuit, gloves, and a frilly robe, even her full mask was pink. Even with the bright colors, Seductress' delivery had tendencies to be lethal. She would attack Lena, but at the same time, her heel dialogue to Lena was often on the flirtatious side.
"Lena," Seductress uttered in a promo two weeks after her debut appearance. "I hope you didn't take that little 'confrontation' personally. I just wanted to introduce myself to you and show you what I think of you. And to tell the truth, Lena, you are so beautiful. I want more of you, and deep down, I know you want more of me, too."
With each time that Seductress approached Lena, it became more and more puzzling. One thing that wasn't puzzling was who Lena loved, and it was her wife, Natasha Grey-Pierce, who she had been married to for four years. One day, Lena was training for her next match, when Natasha approached her; a look of love and concern on her face.
"What's wrong?" asked Lena.
"Lena," said Natasha, "I was wondering about our plans for Valentine's Day..."
"Don't worry about it," said Lena. "I promise, we will have quite a romantic day; just you, me, and a beautiful setting."
"Even though there's a big event at your promotion on Valentine's Day?" asked Natasha.
"Honey," said Lena, "you know that nothing takes priority over us. I love you, Natasha." Lena gave a sweet and amorous kiss to Natasha, who smiled back at Lena after the embrace.
"I love you, too, Lena," said Natasha. "And from what I've watched lately, I'm not the only one." Lena couldn't help but laugh slightly at her wife's humorous jab.
"So you have been watching?" asked Lena.
"Who's this 'Seductress'?" Natasha laughed. "She sounds... interesting."
"I'll handle her, Nat," said Lena. "You know I will. You're the only one for me."
Lena was back on the job at CWW on the following day, but upon entering the locker room, she saw a pink rose taped to her locker, along with a small note, which Lena read to herself:
"From someone who loves you. Signed..."
At that moment, Lena was grabbed from behind, after which Lena heard that familiar breathy and seductive voice whisper in her ear and finish the note:
"...your not-so-secret admirer, Seductress."
That was the last straw for Lena. Seductress had been plaguing her for a month, and after the latest encounter, it was time for Lena to call her out. Lena's music hit to the elation of the crowd in attendance, but Lena was all business. She grabbed the mic and entered the ring to make her proclamation.
"I am tired of the mind games, Seductress!" shouted Lena. "I don't know what it is you want, but I know this: I do want you, but not the way you want it! I want you in the ring, right now!" The crowd cheered loudly and chanted Lena's name, while Lena eagerly waited for Seductress to make her villainous presence felt. Sure enough, Seductress did appear, but only on the video screen.
"Lena!" shouted Seductress, "what's wrong? You didn't like my little gift to you? That really breaks my heart. But if it's a match you want so badly, then you'll have it... just not tonight." The last three words drew boos from the crowd, as it was another tease from the wicked Seductress, who continued addressing Lena.
"I will decide where and when we meet, Lena," said Seductress. "And I know the perfect time and place: Hearts Afire, in St. Louis, on Valentine's Day." Seductress gave an evil chuckle over a stunned Lena, who realized that she'd have to spend Valentine's Day with her hands full against her crazed foe. Nevertheless...
"I accept!"
The day arrived, Valentine's Day, and Lena, for the first time in her wrestling career, was nervous. She was facing off against Seductress, and also, Natasha wasn't answering her calls. A lot of things went through her mind, but the main things she was focused on were this match and her marriage. As much as it slighted her, Lena decided to handle the former first, and despite the many things clouding her mind, Lena made her entrance displaying her tough and upbeat manner, continuing to show her beloved fans that she truly is "The Iron Maiden."
After Lena's hard rock music stopped, a sultry piece of saxophone music played, and out came the villainous Seductress, donning her pink outfit per usual. Seductress sashayed her way down the entrance ramp, and arrogantly tossed her robe to the referee to put away. Once the bell rang, the two women locked up, though Seductress delivered a knee to Lena before blowing a kiss to her opponent. Lena was not having it; she delivered a series of rights to Seductress, and also delivered a snap suplex to her opponent, which was only good for a two count.
Even so, Lena felt good that she was delivering some punishment to Seductress, but that feel good moment was short-lived, as Seductress grabbed Lena's hair and pulled her down, and later embraced the incoming boos from the crowd in St. Louis. Seductress later placed Lena in a headlock and whispered something in Lena's ear, which was later followed by Lena placing her legs around Seductress and delivering a head scissors move. Lena was now in full control, and following that move, she delivered a German Suplex to Seductress, followed by her finishing move, The Maiden's Slam, which is a modified cutter. The Maiden's Slam got the job done, and Lena defeated Seductress in just ten minutes.
Lena actually attempted to unmask Seductress following her victory, but the villainess did manage to get away and tease that the current moment was not the time. Even so, Lena took care of one problem. Now, she needed to spend the rest of this day with Natasha. Thankfully, Hearts Afire was a daytime event, and that allowed Lena to plan a romantic night with her wife. She needed to hear from Natasha first, but that came right after Lena changed out of her gear, as Lena had received a text from Natasha.
"Hey, babe. I'm at a hotel near the arena. Come and meet me at Room 19. Love you."
That evening, Lena arrived at the hotel and received the key to Room 19, and upon entering, she saw quite a romantic setting: candles, romantic music, and rose petals on the bed. Lena gushed over the setting, but noticed something that alarmed her a bit: some of those petals were pink. The petals weren't the only pink attribute that Lena would encounter.
"Hello, Lena."
"Seductress!" exclaimed Lena. "What are you doing here?"
"I told you, dear Lena," Seductress said, "I would choose the place and date for our match, and I did. I also said that I would choose the time for me to reveal myself to you, and now is that time." Lena put her guard up, but Seductress didn't fight. She placed her pink-gloved hands on her mask and removed it, and Lena was stunned by what she saw.
"Natasha?!"
"Surprised?" Natasha said with a devilish smirk.
"You were Seductress all this time?" asked Lena.
"Guilty," Natasha said with a breathy and seductive voice, while Lena remained incredulous.
"The video messages, the pink rose, even the attacks," said Lena.
"Attacking was not part of my plan, I swear," said Natasha. "But given that it's part of the show, I kinda had to go all in."
"I'm just stunned by this," said Lena. "All I want to know, is 'Why?' Why all of this?"
"Honestly," said Natasha, "I wanted to spice things up a bit. I knew what I signed up for when I married a wrestler. I got into it during our marriage, but part of me felt like I wanted to be more than just a supportive wife. I wanted you to see my wild side, my--dare I say--villainous side. But I still wanted to show how much I love you."
"So Seductress was born," said Lena.
"That's right," Natasha replied as she was returning to acting under her brief heel persona. "And now that you've seen the face of Seductress, my dear, is it everything you wanted?"
"And then some," Lena said with a smile before kissing Natasha. "Honestly, you were great in the ring against me today. Any chance the Seductress continues to compete?"
"Oh no way," laughed Natasha. "As much fun as I had, I can't do that for half as long as you have. But we'll always have the memories of our saga."
Valentine's Day saw the end of Lena's brief feud with the sinister Seductress, but on a larger note, it saw the angle bring Lena and Natasha closer together. Lena continued to impress in the ring, and as for Natasha, she proudly left her short-lived alter-ego, Seductress, behind; opting to continue cheering for her better half. Even so, Lena and Natasha will always have the memories of the most memorable Valentine's Day in both of their lives.

Well told, Sir. You have a (Rick) flair for these kinds of stories! I found this through our Facebook group. I've been very behind on my reading but intend to do more. I have to admit, I guessed the answer to your mystery ahead of time. But I'm currently slowly watching the original Twilight Zone, so it's like I'm kinda preprogrammed to use foreshadowing to figure out the twist ending. Even that said, I still enjoyed this immensely! ⚡💙⚡
Loved your holiday story!!!❤️❤️💕
