Oxygen Heart
"Come on!" he shouted as he grabbed my arm and started running south. My feet slipped away from me as they followed him, but my eyes stayed glued on the Enforcers. Their shiny silver beams pointing at us, their lenses blowing up our picture in the main square.

Ashes of the Past
James walked through the burnt and ruined house. Between the fire, the raiders, and random looters there was little that remained beyond the skeletal framework. This had been his home not so long ago. It had been place where he could raise a family and enjoy the rewards of his work. You & I
I gave Alice the locket on her birthday, and when she died, I took it back. She'd had it less than a day when the first attack happened. By the time we knew what was happening, two weeks had passed, and she was dead. The heart-shaped locket was the only thing I had left of her, and the picture inside of it was my own. I had no images of Alice; I was starting to forget her face. Her memory was fading with all the rest. Fast food, PTA meetings, convenience stores, cafe lattes, and fresh vegetables- all of these things and Alice were all relics of the past.

The Rebellion
She pulled me for what felt like forever. The wind felt like needles brushing up against my face as we ran through the icy midnight woods. My legs hurt and my feet were numb from running in only socks. We finally stopped in the middle of the woods. I watched the heat in the air disappear and reappear as I panted trying to catch my breath. She handed me Aiden, my brother, and started to dig into the snow and dirt along with four of our other neighbors. The rest of us just stood there shivering. It was dark with only the moonlight from the full moon to guide us. I begged her to explain what was happening in a whisper, but she kept demanding I be quiet.

Vendra
Vendra by Brett Tyndall Pain jolted throughout my body, hitting every nerve end. I felt a dampness around me, but it was too dark for me to tell if it was rain or blood. I was buried in wet rubble and debris from the explosion. I needed to get out of this pile. I felt around my uniform, which was dying from a lack of solar energy. I noticed one of the vials around my waist was empty. I assumed the suit shot me with HE/LP, or Healing Emergency/Life Preserver. The serum was only good for broken bones and blood loss, so I guess none of my organs failed. The suit would tell me if it wasn’t running out of energy. I didn’t bring a backup vial. I didn’t think I would need it.

Bumbles Magic
Bumbles Magic Bumbles loved doing his magic for children. In fact magic could only be done with children because children believed. Without belief, there was no magic. Adults were generally cynical and didn’t believe in magic. That is why adults were entertained with tricks, instead of magic.

The Graft
The Graft A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us
