Just a Little While Longer
"This too shall pass" - Abraham Lincoln
I was born yesterday, but I am already eight years old. The future doesn’t exist, and it feels like this moment will last forever.
Adolescence arrives and hastily kisses my cheek. She takes my hand in hers, instructs me to follow. Time is a bullet train passing by.
Wait, I shout. You're going too fast.
Years march relentlessly onward and, within a millisecond, I have crossed the threshold bordering adulthood. The future knocks on my door, announces its presence. Afterwards, it evaporates behind me like a wistful and fragmented dream.
Wait, I plead. Just a little while longer.

Enjoying the literature and writing style in this. The theme on time moving forward shows a powerful depiction of something we deal in life and is executed very well through the writing, it reminds me of a quote Einstein said “The distinction between the past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.”
This is really beautifully written. I love the opening line. Congrats on placing in the challenge!
Man, I like this one a lot, and am feeling how life speeds up out of nowhere lately. Great work!
Time flies, such is life. Great story! I enjoyed this.
