J'ai une âme solitaire

I am a lonely soul

By Julie O'Hara - Author, Poet and Spiritual WarriorPublished 3 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read

J'ai une âme solitaire / I am a lonely soul – the only words she can remember from French classes undertaken 50 years past. Once, a beautiful young woman adored for her wit, her poems, and her intelligence, she is now reduced to those four desperate words of nothingness relentlessly throbbing and pulsing through her brain. She can do nothing but lie motionless under the cool, white sheets of her hospice bed as her essence and existence are washed away by the murky slow-moving river of senescence. J'ai une âme solitaire / I am a lonely soul.
