Involuntary Heroism
Not everyone voluntarily becomes a hero.
I’ve never tried to be a hero. They’re always portrayed as holier than thou goody two shoes with issues. Daddy or Mommy it doesn’t matter. Heroes have issues. Well, more than just stupid old comic books. If you get what I mean.
Supervillains aren’t better.
I don’t want to murder innocent people for attention or money. I’ve also never really been that big of a fan of comics in general. And I never really wanted to be until last week. When I was holding a cup of water, it froze. Nearly breaking the glass that I was holding as well. That was strange. But in all honesty, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. I knew I wasn’t dreaming but I didn’t know what to do. Aside from testing this on something a lot bigger than a stupid glass of water. I immediately left my apartment to go to the nearest lake. One that barely anyone visited.
I started creating ice by dipping my hands in it.
I was so surprised how much ice I could make from that. It felt so strangely powerful but scary at the same time. A few minutes into this I heard splashing along with screaming. I looked around for the noise and saw a child in the water. I didn’t hesitate as I made bigger pieces of ice to reach the child. Keeping on my stomach as I got close enough and reached over to her. Her nails dug into me as I pulled her on the ice. Leaving marks but I didn’t care. All I cared about was getting her to the shore.
When I did the sudden crowd of people nearby cheered. Taking my picture as I sat there. And that is how I became Frostbite.
