Introducing the Underwater Rookie
Learning a bit about the characters of Zoo HQ and how they came to be

Hello, my name is Subs. I am a jaguar that hails from the Brazilian amazon rain forest. If you haven't heard of me already, its because I am still a rookie and have yet to learn all the ropes of this job. But let us start with how I came to be where I am, shall we.
My initial residence was someone in the lush amazon rain forest somewhere north of Brazil. It was a grand time of exploration and hunting the vast majority of forest animals that composed my daily diet was never a dull moment. I had just left my mothers comfort no more than a half year prior and was just getting ready to find a territory of my own to claim and explore without worry. However, things never seem to go how one wishes it would. During one of my routine hunts, I found myself in a very precarious predicament. Food was becoming more scarce and my stomach had been growling at me all day. After wandering through the forest for a while, I came upon a strange cave with holes all over and a giant piece of fresh meat in the back. Being the curious cat I am, I decided to move ever so cautiously into the cave in order to sample this chunk of flesh before me. All of a sudden, something slammed behind be with a terrible crash. The cave had somehow closed me in and I now way of escaping. No matter how much I clawed or bit the holey walls, they just wouldn't budge.
Soon a couple of weird creatures showed up looking much like some of the monkeys I had caught before, but were much bigger and seemed to be losing their hair. After coming closer to the cave and not wanting to made fun of, I let off a large hiss and made sure they got the message. This didn't seem to deter them however, and instead they just gawked and me and chattered in a weird way among themselves. All of a sudden, something struck me on my backside that felt like a jagged thorn I had once landed on trying to get a monkey. With time the pain went away, but I began to feel really sleepy and soon everything became a dark haze which then led me into a deep sleep.
A good while later, I woke up from my snooze inside the same cave, but now it was inside an even bigger cave that seemed to have an unstable floor. It got some taking used to but eventually I didn't care that the cave was swaying and decided to eat some of the meat that was still in the back of the cave. A little while later I found out that the caves that I had been in were a trap set for catching animals and the even bigger cave I was in was the boat that carried me here. Along the journey the funny hairless monkeys would come by and drop a chunk of tender flesh in my cave and a small pool of water to quench my thirst. This was weird being fed like this but it didn't feel all that bad.
At the end of the boats journey, the cave I was in was transported onto a strange looking beast that almost resembled the interior of the boat, but was much more cramped. After about a half day of being in that thing, we arrived at where I now reside: The San Diego Zoo. Apparently I had been caught in an accidental research project that was aiming for another creature that lived in my jungle, but since they had caught me, the hairless monkeys had decided to take me instead back home with them for a different project. Once we had come to where my new home would later be, I was pushed and prodded into an enclosed pit of sorts with plenty of trees and lots of hiding places. Seeing as I was free to explore, I took the initiative and wandered around a bit. Soon it became apparent that I wasn't going to be the only one living here.
Another jaguar named Bruiser, had also been brought here but his case was due to a rescue operation from animal poachers. Getting used to having a roommate was tough, but after a few weeks we began to get along. A short while later, I would come face to face with the organization that would change my life forever. Zoo HQ as they called it was an underground animal organization that was dedicated to helping animals in need, preventing animals from going extinct, and finding able bodied candidates that would be willing to help on missions around the world with different activities. Bruiser thought that I would be a good addition to his team as he dealt mainly with stealth and suburbs missions around waterways. In my mind however, there was always that sense of adventure that would always beckon to me to be elsewhere. So I ended up asking to have a look at some of the other teams and see where I could curb my cravings for adventure.
This eventually led me to my team that I am a part of now; Sector 18's traveling dispatch unit where anywhere in the world is our mission field and any kind of mission is within our agenda. My team is comprised of a few animals from across the world and some can be a bit bizarre. In the end, I had found a place that I could call my own and now, my adventures can really start to begin.
