“Will you two just shut up and stop arguing!”

“Hey, don’t get mad at us, just because you have yet another dilemma. You never listen to us anyway!”

"Come on, guys, that’s not true; I listen to you all the time, that's why I keep getting into these situations.”

“I can understand how listening to him would get you into trouble, but me, I have been here with you since you were eleven. Listening to me has kept you alive.”

“How do you figure that?”

“What about all those times when you were about to do something crazy? I told you what to do and when you listened, you were fine. It was when you did not listen to me that you got into trouble. Now you are tossing up between what I say and what he says? Seriously, he only has one thing on his mind. Oh, sorry, he does not have a mind, does he?”

“Very funny. You think you are so good. If that is the case, how come he is so miserable with his life now? Because he has listened to you, that’s how.”

“He has not got his rocks off in over four years. I am ready, willing, and more than able to put a big smile on his face, and all for no cost. I am like a stallion waiting to run the magic mile. Trust me, you will not regret it, and you know that that is what he wants to do, except you keep getting in the way.”

“You are delusional. Look at what it has cost already? Have you forgotten all the money spent? There's nothing to show for it. You just keep going up and down like a 'jack-in-the-box', waiting for excitement. Can’t you see you have had your time in the sun and now you need to shrink back into non-existence and mind your own business.”

“Guys, guys, please stop arguing and help me try to sort this out. You are both right. Yes it has already cost money that I am not likely to get back. Can’t I have a bit of fun and do something that I love and really want to do. I don’t want to die having never had the opportunity to do it again.”

“Can we please work together and come up with a solution. I need us to be on the same page if this is going to work; otherwise, it will be a disaster, and then I will really hate myself. Agreed?”

“O.K. as long as you listen to me. I must admit that after so long, the thought of actually doing it again is rather appealing.”

“Listen to him, 'the thought is rather appealing'. At least when I get excited, you can tell; you can see it. Let’s get this show on the road, brother. I am raring to go; just say the word. I am ready for action.”

"We all agree then. As long as it doesn't cost more, we’ll go for it. We’ll work together to make it the best thing this year." Agreed?”

“Okay”

"Okay. You can tell already how excited I am.”

“Yes, and I need you to stop thinking about it. I have things I have to do, so I need you to stand at ease, and you, we have other problems we need to address.

I really enjoyed how this plays out as an internal debate made entirely of voices. Great read!
