If walls could talk
The Walls that Witnessed a Woman's Dream
If walls could talk, I would have a tale to tell of a time when the sky was a canvas painted in shades of oppression, and the dreams of women were hidden behind the veil of ignorance. I am the wall of a small home in a rural village, and for many years, I have been a silent witness to the struggles of a Muslim woman who lived within these walls.
I remember the day she was born, when her mother brought her into the world with tears of joy and sadness. Joy for the new life that had come into the world, and sadness for the limitations that would soon be placed upon her. In this place, women were but mere whispers, their voices stifled by the winds of tyranny, and opportunities for learning were but a mirage in the scorching desert of ignorance.
But this young woman was different. She had a fire in her heart and a thirst for knowledge that could not be quenched. Despite the restrictions placed upon her, she was determined to seek the truth and to break free from the chains that held her back.
I saw her study by moonlight, late into the night, secretly devouring books and papers that she had procured through great risk and sacrifice. I heard her whisper prayers for the strength to continue, even as the world around her threatened to extinguish her flame.
And yet, she persisted. Despite the obstacles in her path, she refused to give up. Her determination inspired others, and soon, a small community of women had formed, sharing their knowledge and encouraging one another to push forward.
I saw the joy in her eyes when she finally learned to read and write, and the pride she took in sharing her newfound skills with others. And I felt her heart break when she was discovered, and her books were taken away, her education deemed dangerous and forbidden.
But even in the face of adversity, this woman did not give up. She continued to seek knowledge, to push against the walls of oppression, and to fight for the right to learn. Her spirit was unbreakable, and her courage inspired others to follow in her footsteps.
And now, as I stand here, I am proud to have been a part of her story. If walls could talk, I would tell of a time when one woman dared to dream of a better future, and of the sacrifices she made to make that dream a reality. I would tell of a time when a thirst for knowledge could not be suppressed, and of the bravery it took to break free from the chains of ignorance and soar towards the horizon of enlightenment.
And so, as I stand here today, I am a testament to the perseverance and determination of this incredible woman. Her story will forever be etched into my walls, a reminder of the power of the human spirit to overcome adversity and achieve great things.
In a world where ignorance still reigns, where the voices of women are still stifled, and where education remains a distant dream for many, her story serves as a beacon of hope. It shows that no matter how high the walls of oppression may be, the human spirit can always find a way to soar above them.
And so, if walls could talk, I would tell this tale with pride, knowing that I have been a part of something truly remarkable. For this is the story of a woman who dared to dream, and of the walls that witnessed her journey towards a brighter future.
