I'll Love you for A Thousand More

Part II: The Letter

By Maryam BatoolPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 4 min read

I have died every day waiting for you! Darling don't be afraid; I have loved you... For a thousand years.......... I'll love you for a thousand more

It was another blissful morning. Jaxon rolled up the shades, inviting streams of golden sunlight to flood the room, casting a warm glow over everything.

Jax, You up?

Oh, Hey. Am! I didn't want to wake you, sweetie...

Well, now you did! Mmmhaaahhh...

Finally, a day when I'll make coffee for you.

Amelia twisted her hair in a bun while she said goodbye to her sleep. She went to the Kitchen; for the first time in the morning since they got married. As she was whisking the coffee repeatedly with her hands she noticed a flower vase — A withered-one right in the corner.

Aww... You poor thing. How did you get so sick? Your daddy doesn't water you, does he?

Amelia took the vase; Left the stirring process in between and took it to a garden that was just outside her bedroom's window. From where she could see Jaxon. He was lost in a deep thought that made his smile disappear. Amelia felt disturbed; She wondered what happened to him and left the pot right where she was standing.

To the bedroom.

Jax, what happened? You look upset. Is everything alright?

Oh, What?... Yeah! I'm fine, Am.

Jax acted like he was ok. He acted!

Jax, You know you can't hide nothing from me. Right? Look here; at me. What is it?

Amelia tilted his head by grabbing his chin, toward her face.

Both looked into the eyes. Amelia could see a glitter of restlessness in Jaxon's eyes.

The Letter. The letter...

Jaxon's voice started to crack while answering to Amelia.

What letter? Come sit... Relax! Now, tell me what happened...?

Amelia helped Jaxon to the couch and comforted him with both her hands at the top of his hands.

Amelia, I can't. This can't be... I don't wanna open it... It was all settled in the article... So, why? Promise me you won't open it!

Jaxon fumbled for words, his mind racing as he struggled to find the right ones...

Open what? What can't be? Jaxon! Tell me in clean words... What's the matter?

Jaxon handed a familiar-looking letter with a similar logo that was printed on Amelia's Space Suit, to her.

It was a letter from the Space Troops—the very space company Amelia worked for.

Holy crap! What could this be about? They had already given me a 10-year break. What’s this letter for?

Amelia's eyes widened with shock, a flicker of fear crossing her face as she stared at the envelope, unsure of what awaited inside.

A tear slipped down Jaxon’s cheek as he fought to stem the torrent of emotion threatening to flood his eyes.

Don't worry, Jax. It's nothing... You're just freaking out. Maybe they gave me a promotion; Or It could be those Mess bills that I didn't pay. Relax! You are such an overthinker.

Amelia wrapped her arms around Jaxon, but inside, it felt like a bomb had exploded, scattering fragments of fear in every direction. She was three times as fearful as he was, her heart racing with uncertainty.

Amelia opened the letter.

The 1st 3 bold letters said:

THE SPACE ALERT!

Amelia started to read the letter in a faint and broken voice:

Hi Amelia,

We hope this message finds you well as you begin this exciting new chapter of your life. We are writing to inform you about an urgent matter concerning the Space Alert.

Four years ago, when you were selected for the meteor project, you signed a contract under Brian's name. Brian set out for that journey as your placement. You agreed to cover for him in case of emergencies. Recently, Space Troops decided to initiate a secret mission to explore the fire flares between Earth and Mars—a journey that’s classified, so details cannot be disclosed at this time. Unfortunately, Brian has been diagnosed with brain cancer, and he has reaffirmed his commitment to the contract, ensuring that you will take his place for this mission.

The mission is set for a 10-year duration, and we kindly ask you to prepare within the next week. We sincerely apologize for the short notice, but our team was waiting for Brian’s medical results before proceeding.

Kind regards,

[Space Troops]

Amelia’s hands trembled as she finished reading the letter, the weight of its contents crashing over her. Her breath caught, and for a moment, she couldn’t move—caught between disbelief and the looming reality of the next ten years.

‘oh, what... Yeah! I'm fine, am' no Jax, no!!! I've been routing for you, now you're just lying to us hiding things from us. Why??? Asking us not to open it? No we must open it at once! 'Fragments of fear' I like that. A vivid original line 👌🏾 I can see the effort you put into this second part of the story. The first one was warming us up for this moment, and I am glad you started off gentle and steady, it made perfect sense. Now all hell is breaking loose. After reading that letter from the space troops, it was very well written and believable. I love the tone and the urgency of it came through perfectly. 👏🏽👌🏽🤗♥️

Oh my god! The way you gradually revealed the mystery and thrilling twist made me restless. Amazing. The vivid and realistic portrayal of the anxiety and fear of Jaxon and Amelia was incredible. That letter, ohh! Amelia's job is fantastic, but at this moment, it feels like a nightmare for her. Looking forward to the next part. Wonderful job, dear! 🙂✨👏🤝

Wow, I was so caught up in their sweet morning routine, and then bam—Jaxon’s mood shifts. The pacing here is so incredible. I’m dying to know how Amelia and Jaxon will handle this.

  • I'm so sorry but I don't understand. Amelia sent her brain to space? So she is brainless? And the brain has cancer now? I'm so sorry for my confusion 😅😅

I loved part 2! The love story is turning into a sad one... Am I correct? The part where Jaxon couldn't tell properly because of shock is emotional. Best of luck for part 3 💖👍
