The clouds were burning, the poison was dripping in fiery strands to the land and sea below, and all it touched began to burn as well.
Renewable energy had been outlawed and everything was powered by fossil fuel and wood.
The result was there were no trees left to convert carbon dioxide to oxygen, and the world got hotter with a toxic cloud base that blocked out the sun and still people burned their toxic fuels and sparks went up into the atmosphere.
When the clouds caught fire religious zealots said it was their god's will to cleanse the world of non-hetero and non-white humans.
They praised the clouds as "Holy".
They chanted as the fire fell from the sky, "Holy, Holy"
Then the ocean began to burn, "Holy, Holy, Holy"
They walked into the burning ocean to meet with their saviour and humanity looked on in horror as they chanted "Holy, Holy" as their bodies burned.
There were no sould left only charred bones sinking to the bottom of the burning water.
There was no escape, humanity would burn as Hell came to earth to take them into its fiery embrace.
And the last sound that anyone heard was;
"Holy, Holy"

Lol, those people are so crazy, dumb and delusional 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Loved your story!
Interesting and scary. This will hopefully happen after I am happily in heaven of someone spiritual telling people 'Fear not the Lord is with you.'
My Mom always said we'd go out in a nuclear holocaust because God would let us destroy ourselves and the book of Revelation speaks of earth's destruction. Maybe environmental destruction is just a similar end. Great image of fire in the ocean..also in Revelation.
Hopefully that's not our end. Well done, Mike.
Such a poignant and powerful story! I hope humanity isn't ending like this....
An excellent satirical piece focusing on mankind’s fallible susceptibility to succumb to fanatical beliefs and actions.
