Her Voice

A Love That Transcends Loss, Guiding Him Back to Life

HER VOICE

It had been three years since Rayaan lost his wife, Meera, to a tragic accident. The world had moved on, but he hadn’t. Their home was a shrine to her memory—her books remained untouched, her favorite mug still sat on the kitchen counter, and her laughter seemed to echo in the empty halls. But what Rayaan missed most was her voice, the way she could turn even the most ordinary days into poetry.

One evening, as he was cleaning out the attic, he stumbled upon an old cassette recorder tucked inside a dusty box. Curiosity made him press play. The room filled with the crackling sound of her voice.

“Hey, Rayaan,” she giggled, “if you’re hearing this, it means you finally cleaned the attic. Took you long enough!”

Rayaan froze, his chest tightening as her voice carried on.

“I recorded this because I know how stubborn you are. Life isn’t meant to be lived in pause, Rayaan. Promise me you’ll live, laugh, and love again. Don’t let my absence become a cage.”

Her words broke him. Tears streamed down his face as he clutched the recorder, her voice washing over him like a warm embrace. For the first time in years, he felt her presence—not as a ghost of grief, but as a guiding light.

The next day, Rayaan walked out of his house with a resolve he hadn’t felt in years. He still carried Meera in his heart, but now, her voice pushed him to live again.
