Heartfelt Garden Proposal: A Beautiful Love Story of a Boy Proposing to His Dream Girl

A Romantic Moment in a Serene Garden: A Boy's Emotional Proposal to the Love of His Life

By Young DreamerPublished about a year ago 4 min read

It was one of those warm, gold afternoons when everything and anything else visible seemed all the brighter. The sun hung low in the sky, shedding light that was soft and amber in its hues upon the expanse below. Birds flitted between trees, trilling their melodies, while leaves whispered secrets in the slight breeze. It was as though it was Arjun's day—perhaps it had been carved for love to be on this day.

He had been planning it for weeks, right from the place down to each word that should escape his lips. He loved Priya ever since the time his memory could run back, and a smile on her used to brighten his world more than anyone else. They were the best of friends; every day, their relationship blossomed into something better. Now he wanted more. He just wanted to say what he felt, that she was the only one with whom he wanted to spend his life.

It was indeed a nice setting: an outfield garden, blooming flowers everywhere, great views of distant mountains. The garden was sheltered far away from daily hustles and was therefore serene, with color and bustle in every corner. In the middle, there was a small lake, shimmering like diamonds under the sunbeams, with the mirror of all trees around it and the sky.

As Arjun walked through the garden, holding hands with Priya by his side, he felt his heart pounding as though it were the first time. He had taken her here scores of times already, but this was different. This time, he had a secret in his pocket, in a small velvet box carrying a simple ring, fashionably minimalistic. He ran his finger over the box; the weight could almost be symbolic of the moment's importance.

Dismissing his discomfort, Priya was too engrossed as he continued to guzzle in the beauty of the garden. She was clothed in a light floral dress that waltzed to the gentle breeze. Her hair was thrown to the back of her shoulders, flowing free, blown through by the wind. Arjun got captured with just the presence. She was beautiful and graceful. For one moment, the wave of luck which he had because she was in his life did sweep him off.

They finally reached a seclusion by the lake. A bench nestled between blossoming trees that shaded high above. The fragrance of flowers filled the air, the light murmur of water lapping on the shore. Arjun inhaled deeply, his palms wet, motioning Priya to take a seat.

"The place is so beautiful," Priya daydreamed, the amazement dripping from her voice. "It is like a dream."

Arjun sat down beside her, feeling a bit nervous. "I thought it would be just the spot to talk.

She looked to him, her brow furrowing slightly. "Talk? About what?"

Rehearsed words a thousand times over suddenly went into hiding, and Arjun felt his heart all of a sudden thudding in his chest. His fingers wrapped quivering a little now around the small box in his pocket. Everything else was in a blur: trees, birds, breeze. And Priya stood, with the enormity of what he was about to tell her.

Priya," he said, almost in a whisper, "there's something I have to tell you, something I've wanted to tell you for such a long time.

Her eyes softened with interest. 'What is it, Arjun?

Arjun again took a deep breath and summoned his courage, standing up and getting down on one knee, putting his hand to the velvet box. Priya's widened eyes showed her complete surprise as she put her hand over her mouth and finally grasped the whole act.

I have loved you since forever," Arjun finally said, words bursting out of his heart as his voice steadied. "You are my best friend, my confidante; you are the one who makes me feel like I can do anything. Nobody understands me the way you do, and I just can't imagine living my life without you in it.

Arjun started in frustration, sounding a bit emotional, and his eyes welled with tears as he went on. "Priya, I feel like spending my life with you—wanting to wake up every single morning with you by my side, to build a life of love and laughter together.

He showed me a very simple and beautiful ring from the opened box. "Will you marry me?"

There was a second's silence between them, and then Priya looked back at him—her eyes held shimmering unshed tears. Arjun felt his heart thunder; the seconds stretched into eternity. He was raw, wide open in a way he had never been before in his entire life.

Then finally Priya smiled, the smile was electric; the whole face lit up-the sun above them was nothing compared to her bright smile. "Yes," she whispered, her voice hardly steady; "Yes, Arjun, I will marry you." Arjun let out a sigh he never knew was inside of him, for he felt relief and ultimate joy well up inside him.

He slipped the ring onto her finger; his hands were shaking while he did this. Then, without even realizing it, he got up, strode over to her, and pulled her into his arms, holding her close as the world around them melted away. Nothing else mattered at that moment; it was just the two of them, standing by this shimmering lake in the middle of this beautiful garden, with their arms around each other.

The birds kept chirping, the breeze didn't stop blowing, and the sun didn't stop shining—but for Arjun and Priya, time had stopped ticking away. It was the perfect proposal in a perfect place with the perfect person. Probably for the first time in his life, Arjun felt that everything had finally fallen into place.
