Gina reached down, ripping off her heels, she was ready to gouge someone’s eye out. At the moment she wished she had taken her karate classes more seriously in middle school.

Steven pulled out a gun from his shirt and pointed it at the shadowy figures.

“Freeze!”

Next, four cop cars raced up, surrounding Steven, Gina and the shadowy gang.

“You are under arrest for criminal activity involving human trafficking!”

One dark figure tried running away but he was shot down by Steven in the back. The others just stood there until they were handcuffed from behind and led to the cop cars.

Gina’s heart pounded.

“Who the heck are you?”

She yelled at Steven who still held the gun.

“An under cover cop, Gina. We have been trying to catch those guys for a long time. The only way to get them was to make it seem like I was luring you straight to them at the restaurant.”

Gina tapped her purple heels together in the air.

“So I dressed up for a blind date with an under cover cop to help with some kind of a sting operation to arrest human traffickers? Is that all, huh?”

“That is correct, ma’am. I know this was a jarring experience but we had to make it appear to be as real as possible.”

“Whatever. Please take me home now!”

“Yes, ma’am. We will return you safely home and then follow up with a detailed police report soon.”

“How the heck is this even legal, roping civilians into stuff like this? I mean I do like adventure and I’m all for stopping human trafficking but this was a bit much, even for me.”

Gina put her heels back on. Just then Raquel drove up in her light blue beetle Volkswagen with the eyelashes on the headlights.

Gina glared a death glare at Raquel.

“Oh, look who’s finally come to rescue me from the midst of a sting scene!”

Gina walked to the passenger door and jerked it open.

“So, turns out Steven isn’t Steven at all. He’s an UNDER COVER COP!”

She sat down in the passenger seat and slammed the door shut.

Raquel squeaked with a mousy expression.

“Oh my gosh! Oh Gina! I’m so so sorry!”

She started driving home but her hands were shaking.

“After you left, I started researching Steven more on social media sites. I put in his last name but I couldn’t find him anywhere… which is why I texted you when I did to run and get out of there!”

“Ya’ think you could’ve researched him a little more before sending me out there? What dating profile did you even create for me anyway? You better delete delete delete it! I’m NEVER… I repeat NEVER going on a blind date ever again! That was crazy!”

They pulled into the drive way and walked into Gina’s house.

“And I’m never wearing uncomfortable heels or a dress again!”

She frantically unzipped her dress and changed into pajama pants, fuzzy socks, and one of her oversized t-shirts.

Raquel kept apologizing.

“I’m just so so sorry! But you did look absolutely gorgeous! Your eyeshadow was spot on perfection!”

“Oh thanks, I hope Steven liked the eyeshadow too and the human traffickers who got arrested!”

Raquel grimaced, but then came up with a quick idea.

“Okay… so… ready for a gallon of cookie dough ice cream and some more episodes of Survivor?”

“I’ve survived enough tonight so let’s watch something else a bit more lighthearted, mkay? The ice cream sounds great. While you grab that ice cream, I’m gonna have a little fun rearranging some things on your Pinterest boards and also I’m creating you a dating profile because I decided that I’m sending you on a blind date next!”

With far too much sarcasm Gina continued,

“Get ready, it’s gonna be unforgettable! And nothing like my wild traumatic experience! Oh, sweet revenge, baby! You can even borrow my purple heels since I don’t need them anymore!”

Gina grabbed her phone and snuggled down in the covers of her bed, excited for the ice cream.

Raquel had disappeared into the kitchen.

Gina was going to milk this situation for all it was worth.

“Hey, can you bring that ice cream in on a silver platter too? It’s all to help me manage post traumatic stress.”

She giggled, as she made a Pinterest board of dorky Crocs on her friend’s Pinterest.

Raquel came back with huge bowls of ice cream. She nestled into the bed and flipped the TV on.

She looked at Gina, and stated matter of factly,

“Well, at least Steven didn’t have a toupee or dentures… and hopefully he didn’t smell like pickle relish after all and I did get you out of your shell… in a way. Plus, we helped get rid of some bad guys!”

Gina just rolled her eyes and took another bite of ice cream.

“Maybe we could watch Miss Congeniality. I like that movie.”
