All over the world, children have been acquiring random superpowers they cannot control. It's been an entire month, and the world is in chaos. It's being called "The Superhuman Epidemic," and the leaders of the world have executed a kill order on all super-abled children. However, it's not easy killing a child with bulletproof skin, and a lot of adults (especially those with children of their own) cannot morally allow the slaughter of human children, regardless of their "unnatural powers." A worldwide civil war has broken out between the supporters of the genocide and the super-abled children with their allies.
Max and Arthur Emerson are twins from Westchester, New York. The nine-year-old boys haven't developed any extraordinary abilities. However, Arthur Emerson is a natural-born athlete with Olympic-level potential, and Max Emerson is an intellectual prodigy born a genius. Luckily for the Emerson family, these are not considered "superpowers."
The Emerson family lives in a safe zone away from the daily battles fought worldwide. Monitored in a neighborhood with other families whose children haven't "changed" yet. Every couple of days, another child unwillingly gains superpowers, and the parents are either accidentally killed or forced to choose between their child's life and their lives in the safe zone.
Max and Arthur share a twin bed in their two-bedroom safe house.
"OMG!!!" Mrs. Emerson screams in shock.
Waking up to their mother's screams, Max and Arthur looked at each other. Without saying a word, they both knew what the other was thinking. Something felt funny.
Looking down, Max and Arthur realize what their mother is screaming about. They had been fused together in the night; they now share a body with two heads, four arms, and two strong legs.
"What will we do?" Max asks.
"We need to leave immediately!" Mrs. Emerson exclaimed.
