It was a beautiful sunny day as the seagulls flew up above a small boat carrying a group of students, when the coastline came into view. Waves could be seen crashing into the towering cliffs as the small boat bobbed up and down in the sea swell. It was a marvelous sight as the spray created brightly colored rainbows as the sun shone through it, and as the boat came closer to the cliffs, small openings could be seen each time they topped a swell. The five Oceanic Institute students looked at their instructor, and he told the captain to continue closer to the cliffs. Looking at the instructor with a concerned look in his eyes, he continued on, and at one point, the swell went so low they could see the ocean floor, while they could see everything around as it peaked and then vanished once again as it was playing peek-a-boo with its surroundings. Closer and closer they were getting to the cliffs when the instructor shouted at the captain to turn around, but he just shook his head and said he could not. The students lay down in the bottom as the captain tried to steer the boat the best he could as it bobbed even closer and closer, and when it seemed like they were going to crash on the rocks, the swell dropped, and the boat was swept into a small cavern that led into a larger cavern with sunlight coming from the far end.
Shaken but unharmed, the students slowly got to their feet when they noticed their instructor was nowhere to be seen. The boat had washed up on some small beach, and lush vegetation was growing everywhere, whiles sounds could be heard coming from a distance ahead of them. The captain had been knocked out and as a couple stundents made him more comfortable, the others jumped out of the boat and started calling for their instuctor with only their echos coming back to them when they decided to go look for their instructor. Leaving a note with the captain with a machette in their hands they left the boat and ventured their way towards the sunlight, knowing they had little time left they moved as quick as they could. As they moved closer to the light, it got more vibrant and brighter and they realized that it wasn’t natural but made by something. As they made their way through the dense undergrowth a low hum could be heard and as the cavern grew larger the student in the lead told the others to stop and to get down cause he heard something ahead. Slowly they began to crawl through the mud as the large leaves kept them hidden as they got closer to the sounds when one of the girls i the group screamed as a large grey hand grabbed her leg and she vanished as she was pulled from the undergrowth as the other scrambled to get away when three more of the students were grabbed as the remaining girl managed to find a hidding place under a large boulder. Sounds could be heard all around them and she preyed that they wouldn’t find her when everything went quiet.
She didn’t know how long she stayed under the boulder, but when she came out, it was complete darkness and silent. Reaching into her pocket, she pulled out a small flashlight and when she turned it on, all she could see was rocks and boulders. There was no vegetation to be seen and in the distance the bow of the boat could be seen. Before she left the safety of her hole she looked around once more and then slowly made her way to the boat when she heard voices calling out to her and the beams of flashlights were moving around like spotlights. As she got to the boat on the tiny beach, five students and the captain was releaved that she was fine.

Fun adventure story, def feels like it could be in Newfoundland. Was the monster real or was it just her imagination?
