Introduction

This is for Liam Storm's "Mother Nature" Challenge which you can find out about here.

The music is "Flying Sorcery" by Al Stewart. It has nothing to do with the story but the title is perfect and it is a wonderful song.

𝕱𝖑𝖞𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕾𝖔𝖗𝖈𝖊𝖗𝖞

Earth was going to be easy. Everything was run by computer, so they flew in and disabled every computer which destroyed all communications and control of every mechanical thing including transport and weapons.

They would not have to fight the humans as they could just let them starve to death and destroy each other, and they had been doing that for decades, becoming more and more reliant on computers and communication devices.

The aliens landed away from population centres and felt safe, and sure that the planet would be theirs with virtually no effort.

But not everyone relied on computers.

Witches had magic and nature at their command.

The aliens were under attack, at first they didn't know what it was from.

The hail and lightning severely damaged their ships on the ground. Their scientists put it down to the humans' own destruction of the atmosphere.

But the attacks kept coming and there were many casualties among the aliens.

Their ships were damaged so badly that they would never leave.

Human computers began to come back online.

By the time things were working again, the witches had destroyed every alien ship and where they had stood new trees were growng.

The aliens never saw the witches destroy them with their thunder and lightning, then their carcasses provided food for forest animals.

Nature destroyed the aliens and saved the world directing the forces of nature to protect the Earth.

Media reported there had been a massive computer glitch, but it was fixed now. Earth was unaware that it had been invaded by aliens.

But the witches knew and always would do.
