today's short stories are titled "A thirst for power" and "Oh how I wonder"

The warrior had no loyalty and the young boy who ran away was eager to find it.

The warrior roamed from battlefield to battlefield,

never staying in one place for very long.

The boy had always been fascinated by the warrior's stories of adventure and bravery.

He wanted to be like the warrior,

but he knew that he could never be.

One day, the boy ran into the warrior on a dusty road.

The warrior was covered in blood and there was a look of triumph in his eyes.

The boy asked him where he had been and what he had done.

The warrior just laughed and said that it was none of the boy's business.

The boy didn't understand why the warrior didn't want to talk about his adventures,

but he figured that it was because they were too dangerous for him to hear.

The next day, the boy caught up with the warrior again.

This time, the warrior was limping and his armor was dented.

The boy asked him what had happened and the warrior reluctantly told him a story of a battle he had fought in.

He said that he had been outnumbered ten to one,

but he had still managed to come out victorious.

The boy was amazed by the warrior's skill and bravery.

He couldn't believe that anyone could be so powerful and brave.

The warrior saw the look of admiration in the boy's eyes and he decided to take advantage of it.

He told the boy that if he followed him,

he could become just as powerful as him.

The boy eagerly agreed and the two of them set off on a journey to find more adventure and power.

As they travelled, the warrior taught the boy how to fight and kill.

The boy was eager to learn and soon became just as skilled as the warrior himself.

The two of them became like brothers,

bonded by their thirst for power.

But eventually, they met their downfall.

They were lured into a trap by a rival kingdom and they were both killed in battle.

Phyllis was aloof,

but Edie was her loyal friend.

They were both xenobiologists,

studying the weird and wonderful creatures that inhabited the dark corners of the cyberpunk world.

Phyllis was always the one to find the new and interesting specimens,

while Edie was the one to figure out how they fit into the world.

One day,

while they were working in their laboratory,

they received a call from a contact of theirs.

He told them about a new creature that had been sighted in the city,

and he wanted them to come and take a look.

Phyllis and Edie took the train into the city,

and they were not disappointed.

The creature was unlike anything they had ever seen before.

It was a mass of writhing tentacles,

each one tipped with a sharp claw.

They managed to capture the creature,

and they took it back to their laboratory.

They ran all sorts of tests on it,

but they could not figure out what it was or where it came from.

The creature was obviously intelligent,

and it soon learned to communicate with them.

It told them its name was Zzz’rak,

and it was from a faraway world.

It had been sent to their world on a mission,

but it did not know what that mission was.

Zzz’rak was fascinated by the world it found itself in,

and it asked Phyllis and Edie to show it around.

They took it to all the different places in the city,

and it was fascinated by everything it saw.

Eventually,

they grew to care for the creature,

and they decided to keep it with them.

They built it a little home in their laboratory,

and they treated it like a pet.

However,

they could not keep it a secret forever.

One day,

the authorities found out about Zzz’rak,

and they came to take it away.

Phyllis and Edie were heartbroken,

but they knew that there was nothing they could do.

They never saw Zzz’rak again,

but they always wondered what became of it.

Did it find its way back to its home world?

Or is it still out there somewhere,

exploring the cyberpunk world it was so fascinated by?
