I watched as they pulled the lifeless body of my younger brother out of the river with tears in my eyes, my mother was crying profusely and my dad just stood still.

I and my younger brother had gone to swim in the river since we just finished our swimming training, we wanted to try swimming on our own.

We were swimming well at the shallow part of the river that was just like the swimming pool we were trained in until I said we should go further into the river, my younger brother hesitated for a while before joining me.

We found it hard trying to swim in the deeper part of the river cause of the current, my younger brother said he was tired and he's leaving and started swimming towards the beach, he started drowning after swimming for a little distance.

I tried swimming to him but I was also tired so I couldn't swim fast enough to save him, when I finally got to where he was he was already sinking, I tried to go after but I was also going to drown cause I was exhausted.

I quickly swam to the beach and called for help, people around that could swim quickly rushed into the river searching for my younger brother but they couldn't find him, after a while of searching him they all came out of the river and told me and my parents that arrived at the beach as soon as I contacted them that they couldn't find him and he's already dead by now.

They told us to come the next day explaining to us that his body will float out of the river the next day around the same time he drowned.

My parents and I got home and went to our different rooms, I cried my eyes out that night, I couldn't stop blaming myself for my younger brother's death, the next day we went to the river around the time we were told to come.

A while after we got to the river my brother's body popped out of the river and started floating on it, the people that searched for him quickly went to retrieve his body, my father thanked them and gave them a little token, a vehicle was arranged and my brother's body was taken to a cemetery where he was buried.

We mourned him for months before things started going back to normal but I was forbidden from going to the river, I had also developed aquaphobia(the fear of water).

Years passed and everyone had totally gotten over the death of my younger brother except me, I remember what happened that day from time to time and continued blaming myself for his death.

It was my 18th birthday so I decided to do something in remembrance of my younger brother and to forgive myself for what happened that day.

I visited his grave in the cemetery and dropped flowers on it before heading to the swimming pool where we were trained, I decided to go swimming in remembrance of my brother and to get over aquaphobia.

I got to the swimming pool and changed into my swimsuit, after changing I stood in front of the pool and took a deep breath and dived into it and swam a little inside before bringing my head out of the water to take in some air but I was surprised to see that I was no longer in the swimming pool but a little lake in the middle of an open field covered with flowers.

I got out of the water and started walking around trying to understand what happened or find someone to explain what happened to me when I saw him, I saw my younger brother playing alone in the field, I called his name to be sure it was him, as soon he heard his name he turned and saw me, he ran as fast he could and hugged me.

I was really scared but I couldn't resist hugging him back cause I had missed him so much, he told me he has been here alone since I left him in the river, I told him I was sorry for making him stay here all alone.

We talked and played until it was evening and the sun was setting then he asked me if I'll be leaving him again soon, I thought of how lonely he was until I came and how lonely he would be if I left, I told him I won't leave him anymore.

I decided not to leave him cause that's the only thing I could do to make up for causing his death, my lifeless body was pulled out from the swimming pool and my parents were contacted to come and take my body.

I just hope my parents forgive me for putting them through pains again with my death which was just like that of my younger brother.
