It's never asked all too seriously.
Just a question, passing by.
-
What do you do for fun?
I say I like to write.
-
What do you write about?
Well..
Nothing much, I guess.
-
Nothing like the space between
two hands that yearn to meet,
or the breath of silent calm
when life becomes too steep.
-
Nothing like a quiet thought
that turns out to be true,
or loving someone long enough
to watch them turn anew.
-
Nothing like the way a page
can guide a lost mind free,
or when a hidden feeling
takes the shape its meant to be.
-
Nothing like a dawn unbound
by a solemn thread of light,
or when your senses stay alive
to walk you through the night
-
Nothing like a single call
that mends a fractured heart,
or pressing petals flat in time
so beauty can’t depart.
-
Nothing like the gentle steam
from your favourite cup of tea,
or the silent truth of knowing
how much writing means to me.
-
Nothing like the things I feel
but never could confess,
nothing like,
well..
Nothing much, I guess.

I love this. This piece has summarized everything that I find hard to tell people when they ask about my love for writing.
This is so quietly beautiful. I love how ‘nothing much’ turns into everything :-)
I love this! I often feel this way, like I'm writing about little nothings, that are actually so meaningful but most people don't even think of them. Well written!
Whoaaaa, this was such a deep meaning for nothing. Loved your poem!
