don't be fooled by what others tell you

I quickly turned around in self defense expecting to see Rev standing right behind me, waiting for the perfect time to grab ahold of me and shove me back into that stupid truck of his but no one was there. Assuming I was just imagining scenarios in my head, I continued to walk towards the direction from before.
"Why would you walk away when someone's offering to walk with you?"
I stopped in place. "Who are you?" I told myself to not turn around and just continue walking, but something in my gut was telling me not to move and just wait for an answer.
"I just wanted to walk with you and make sure you made it home safely."
"No," I continued to walk again, picking up my pace even more than before, "I'm not walking with you Rev."
"I'm not that stupid piece of shit."
I gulped. What? My pace sped down a little while still keeping up a good amount of speed to not let him catch up to me. Was this the hoodie guy? Did he seriously think it'd be okay to just follow me down a dark road after what his friend just did? Was this all Rev's plan to get me to come back to him; have his friend distract me enough so I let my guard down and Rev can come back to snatch me back up? Was tonight the night I was finally about to die? All those years spent imagining how peaceful of a death I could have, and it may just end up be me dying all thanks to the stupid decisions I made after moving out to a brand new town.
"Leave me alone." I said to him.
"I just didn't want you to walk alone this late at night."
"Why would you even care?" I asked.
"I don't," He replied bac, "but it can get pretty dangerous in these parts.. you probably realized that with Rev back there, didn't you?"
I let out a sigh. "I don't need anyone to walk me home."
"Just let me walk you home. That's all I'm asking.. I could keep my distance if that's what is troubling you."
I felt something touch my arm, which caused me to jerk away. "Don't touch me," I shouted, "I can take care of myself!"
"Look what good that just got you."
I ignored him.
He yanked my arm, pulling me around so that I was facing him, "I just wanted to make sure you got back home safe without running into Rev, or anyone else like him, again tonight."
"And I told you that I was fine without your help."
"Why are you being such a bitch?"
"Oh, really? Is that why you're being rude to everyone that crosses your path? Is that why you can't seem to get along with anyone? I was just trying to do a nice thing and you are just-"
I turned around, "I don't even know who you are." It's true. I didn't know him. I had just met Rev. He had to be exactly like him. He's probably another douchebag who wanted to find some way to get me alone with him so that he could attack me and leave me stranded out in the middle of an empty field. How can I just let him walk me home? He'll figured out my location and might as well just come back to finish the job Rev couldn't do.
"So that gives you the excuse to become a bitch?"
My blood began to boil. What was he trying to prove? Did he really want to see how far he can push me off the edge?
"Are you a little Princess?" He asked me.
"No."
"Then stop giving me a fucking attitude, then."
I took a step backwards. This was a mistake. Why did I even add to the conversation anyway? I could've just continued walking home and ignored him. My dad's home. He might have scared him off.
He grabbed my wrist, "Where the hell are you going?"
I tried to pull away, but his grip got tighter. I looked up at him. It was so weird how he was hiding his face behind a hoodie. Out of all things to hide behind, he chose a hoodie. He could've chosen to wear a mask but no. That would probably ruin the ambiance of who he thought he'd represent. Plus, why a hoodie? Wouldn't that reveal who he was in the daytime or did he only come out at night? I tried to look past the hood, but there wasn't such luck.
"Take off your hoodie." I said out loud before I was able to stop the words from leaving my mouth.
"Why do you want me to do that?"
"So I could see exactly who's trying to walk me home." My tone of voice came out a bit ruder than I meant for it to be, but I didn't really care. He was a jerk anyway so why should I care about my attitude when talking to him.
"Oh," He smiled, "The princess wants to see who I am."
"I'm not a princess."
"Seems like one to me."
Suddenly it happened. I couldn't stop myself. My hand smacked across his face. My palm burned after, but I did feel a little better after doing it. That was exactly what I needed to calm myself down after the night I just had.
"Now," I held a balled up fist by my side, "Who are you?"
"Why do you want to know?" He wrapped his hand around my fist and let his fingers weave themselves into mine, "What's so important about a name?"
"Why don't you want to tell me?" If it's a game he wants to play, I'll play.
"Ace."
"What kind of name is that?"
"It's a nickname."
"What's your real name?" I asked him but a car drove by, stopping next to us as the window rolled down.
A guy looked over and a serious look fell onto his face, "Who is that?"
I looked over at the window, happy to finally see a face I recognized. "Dad," I smiled, "You found me." I couldn't help but smile when I saw him. I swung open the side door and proceeded to hop in the car when a hand swept across my shoulder and down my back.
"Be careful," Ace whispered into my ear before closing the door for me.
"Who's that?" Dad asked.
I sighed. I wasn't feeling telling him the trouble I just got myself into moments ago. He'd freak out. Not that it would be bad.. I just don't want to deal with it right now. "Nobody important," I replied, "He just saw me out late at night and offered to walk me home. It's probably just some neighbor who was out on their porch."
"Why you decide to take a walk at this time of night anyway," Dad asked me, "and where did that other guy go?"
"What other guy?" I felt my cheeks grow hot.
"The one who was in the driveway." He responded, "There was a guy in the driveway, wasn't there?"
"That was him." I lied. I hoped it was too dark for my dad to realize that it was a completely different guy. I just didn't feel like talking about this any longer. I just wanted to go back home, crawl into bed, and pray things would be different by tomorrow morning. "Can we just go home?" I asked, leaning my head up against the window.
"Sure thing Princess."
I sighed. That name sounded so different to me now. It used to be such a wholesome nickname my dad would call me to remind me that I was his little angel, but now whenever I hear it I can't help but hear Ace's voice. I just wanted to scream out "I'm not a fucking princess" as loud as I possibly can. I wish it was possible to erase this entire night from existence. But sadly, I cannot. I know it's my fault. All this could've been completely avoided if I had just stayed inside the house tonight. But I didn't, and now I have to live with the fact that those men might come back to finish the job they started.
They wanted a fight, and I just had to add my two cents. Why am I such a goddamn idiot?
