By Paul StewartPublished about a year ago 1 min read
Detail from Roy Lichtenstein, I love you but, 1964, private collection - Nightcafed.

Oh, Jeff... I love you too... but - read my message closer.

Oh, Jeff, why did you? I love you too, love the idea, but - read the message closer.

Oh Humility,

Joy everlasting—fucking fable,

Wishful, hopeful—yearning—

Died in dreich,

Yearning over unattainable Intimacy,

Left out—violently eviscerated,

Yearning over—unattainable

Twosome—over, over,

Left out violently—eviscerated

Time heals... eventually?

I don't even agree

Because—unanimous terminus

Left out violently—eviscerated

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: Likely my fourth and final entry for Raymond's awesome challenge (information can be found following the link below) I don't really want to go into too much detail. But, yes, the dots in the title and in the piece are a reference to the ellipses and the Benday dots that Lichtenstein was famous for using in much of his work.

Then I thought filling in the gaps created by the ellipses might be interesting and then thought creating an acrostic out of the "full" version would be a good match to Lichtenstein's style and many of the themes he tackled.

The Challenge:

Here are my other three entries:

You literally turned both Roy’s painting and his words into avatars for you and your poetry! Creepily brilliant! And I love, love, love your reimagined version of Roy’s image!

It read just as a lyric poem would to me. Good job.
