Cut The Cake
Levi or "The Man In Black" pays a visit to "The Owl".
Levi stood outside the mansion of Damian “The Owl” Sparby, clad in his signature black trench coat and combat gloves. Levi looked around the premises, it was well known that “The Owl” never had security placed on the outside of his mansion. He didn’t feel he needed it; he was untouchable. The cops couldn’t touch him, and any competition of his was too afraid to make any sort of move. Well, not everyone was too afraid. Levi looked through the window, seeing The Owl eat a slice of chocolate cake. Chocolate Cake was the Owl’s sign, or reward for what he felt was another success; a celebration for a job well down. Levi walked around to the back, searching for the power switch. These kinds of mansions always had an obnoxious power switch.
Levi or “The Man In Black” as he was known in tabloids, had not planned to do anything this high profile yet. He was working his way up, getting his feet wet before he took on scum like The Owl. That was before that family had almost been murdered, before that monster got innocents involved. And why were their lives threatened? Because they might have heard something about his drug operation. Might have. Shortly after, Levi had come to the decision that it was time to clip The Owl’s wings. Levi found the switch, a large and obnoxious red switch like he had been anticipating. Levi grabbed a knife, shoving it Into the switch and turning the power out in the entire building. Levi smiled, time to get to work.
Levi climbed inside the mansion, stealthily making his way to the main room. He hears cursing, and can not help but smile. He sees how disoriented they are, sensing the anxiety of the room. Darkness has that effect. It takes away one’s comfort. It usually makes one vulnerable, and often helpless. Darkness does not have this effect on Levi. In fact, it has the opposite effect on the vigilante. He used to be like the rest, clinging to the light as the crutch it is. His…past had taken that away. Now, Levi can operate in the darkness like one who’s never seen light. He prefers to operate in the darkness, it allows him to be primal. Turns the odds in his favor.
Levi spots his first target, the bruiser guarding the door. His size is usually an advantage. Usually. Levi is quick and efficient, sweeping the man’s legs, and slamming the bruiser’s face against the floor. Hard. It is a loud take-down, but Levi had little choice. Opponents with a size advantage often present a mismatch, even in the dark. “Hey!” a voice in the room screams. “Brock!”, the voice says, and Levi grimaces. They know he’s here…distance will be key. Levi moves to his left, grabbing the man who screamed. Levi kicks him, landing a crushing blow to the man’s rib. Levi punches him square in the face, a knockout blow. Levi looks around, now able to see the occupants in the room. There are three left, including The Owl. The Owl has not left his seat, still looking calm. A Pity. Levi had hoped he would have tried to run. He wanted the man to feel fear. “Come on out!! You really think a little dark is gonna mess with us???”, one of the men screams. Levi gets behind him, taking him out quickly, with a hard punch. The final henchman seems to be somewhat capable, spotting Levi in the darkness. The man reaches for his gun, but the darkness causes him to have to feel around for it. That extra two seconds will cost him. Levi breaks the distance, punching his opponent, and then grabbing the man by the shirt. Levi punches the man in the face several more times, knocking the man unconscious. “Impressive”, The Owl says, “You must be ‘The Man In Black’ that I’ve been hearing about”. He cannot see his opponent, yet The Owl acts as if he’s still in control. Levi walks up to him slowly, grabbing the mob boss by the throat. The Owl chokes. “Are you-“, The Owl begins to say, but Levi tightens his grip, preventing him from speaking. “No”. Levi says, “Death is too good for a man like you. You deserve to live in agony, and that’s what I’m going to give you, as I destroy everything you have worked so hard to build. Agony”. Levi slams the mob boss’ face into the table with brutal force, knocking him out. Levi stares at The Owl, tempted to strangle the mob boss to death. He walks away, self-control ultimately winning after all. Levi told The Owl he would make sure he would live in agony, and Levi is going to keep that promise.
