Coffee

I blink as I suddenly appear in a weird room with grey walls and ruble everywhere, I sway back and forth on the huge metal ball that hung on the ceiling by a chain that for some reason I was now sitting on.

I looked around and noticed a white back drop at the other end of the room while the side I was on was grey

'what am I doing here'

I hear footsteps coming from around the corner and was surprised when Miley Cyrus walks up to me.

I stare at her wide eyed and shocked,

"Shane"

'she knows my name?!' I internally squeal but pause after a second 'wait.. how does she know my name'

"Uhh hi? why are you here? and where are we?" I ask looing around.

She laughs and looks at me amused "I'm here to shot my music video, I should be asking what are you doing here?"

"Uhh I don't know, can you.."

She smile sweetly before looking away from me "Let start this"

I looked to where she shouted at and was surprised when I saw a bunch of people with cameras,

'those definitely weren't there before'

Miley pushes me off the wrecking ball making me tumble off what was apparently a set, walked to the white backdrop and started singing.

"We clawed, we chained our hearts in vain,

We jumped, never asking why,

We kissed, I fell un.."

I sit on the floor and watch her perform in a daze, still confused as to what the heck was going on.

'wasn't this song released since 2013? why does Miley look younger? where am I..'

Still immersed in my thoughts, I didn't notice a man walk up to me till he waved his hands in my face.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?"

I looked at him, silently realizing the man in front of me was Terry Richardson.

At that moment I didn't care about anything else but getting his signature, I would figure out what was going on later.

"Can I say I'm a big fan of your work, can I get you're signature" he looked at me shocked at my out burst before yelling;

"Security!!" I looked at him as he walks away and in seconds two dramatically burly men appeared in front of me, each lifting me by my arms.

"Dude chill, it's just a signature you could have said no!"

"Hey let me go, I can walk.." I struggle but it was of no use facing their strength

"..I came in like a wrecking ball,

Yeah, I just closed my eyes and swung,

Left me crashing in a blazin' fall,

All you ever did was wreck me,

Yeah, you, you wre..aahh"

A loud scream broke out in the middle of Miley's song,

I looked in the direction of the scream and was surprised to see the wrecking ball Miley swung on out of control.

The men holding me instantly let me go to control the situation and Miley was removed from the scene soon enough.

Although she was off, it was like the ball swung faster and even more out of control.

"Isn't that thing fake!"

"I wanted it to look authentic!"

"Seriously?"

"Stop that thing!"

"What's going on?"

Panic filled the room and all hell let loose when it finally snapped and hurled itself towards the crowd,

Well more like in my direction.

I tried to run but it was useless because it caught up to me and hit me in the back of my head.

"Ahh"

Everything turned black but I could hear Miley's voice still singing,

"..All you ever did was wreck me

Yeah, you, you wreck me

Yeah, you, you wreck me.."

.

.

.

.

Ok this was getting ridiculous.

I furrow my brows and slowly open my eyes, squinting at the sudden light that shined in my eyes.

I struggle a bit before finally getting the phone that was on my bed,

'..nd instead of using force

I guess I should've le..'

I stop the alarm after a few seconds and dropped my phone back on the bed before stumbling off the bed.

'I still don't get why I dream of whatever alarm I set'

I pondered as I put on my jeans and plaid shirt.

I look at the time wondering why I set an alarm by 4 in the morning, it was still early so there was enough time for me to go buy my self a cup of coffee since my machine broke and I was way to lazy to fix it.

"I need an Espresso or something"

I walk out of my apartment and waited for a taxi to pass by, luckily I didn't have to wait long.

"Hi, can you take me to Café Grumpy?"

"Sure thing"

I close my eyes to rest for a while as the ride was silent and peaceful but that didn't last,

*Honk*

"Move it!.."

"Hold you're horses!.."

"It's a car, idiot!.."

"You.."

*Honk Honk*

I open my eyes annoyed at the noise, I look outside and noticed a row of cars behind and in front of us.

"Excuse me, what's going on "

"Sorry miss, there seems to a jam. You should probably get off if you cant wait"

"Thanks for the rather short ride" I hand him some cash and get off the car.

"Thanks miss"

I send him a backward wave as I walk on ahead.

'I should probably go to a closer coffee shop'

It took a while but I finally got to Starbucks, I breathed in the sweet smell of caffeine as I walk in.

'The line is long though' It had at least 10 people on it but at least it was moving fast.

I took my place in line and waited for my turn but I guess today just isn't my day,

*Waaahh*

A loud cry broke out making everyone in the room turn their heads including me, the mother of the child smile apologizingly as she tried to comfort her child.

It didn't work but seemed to make the child cry even harder,

The crying must have agitated the other children because soon cries from different children filled the room.

"You have got to be kidding me"

"I'm outta here, let's go dear.."

"But my coffee.."

"Mam please control your child or leave the building"

I could see the lady who's baby started this whole fiasco blush in embarrassment, the other mom's got their kids to mellow down but hers just wouldn't stop crying.

Apart from the loud cries of a child, the shop was quiet.

I couldn't take it anymore and directly walked up to them,

"May I" she looked at me cautiously for a second before letting me touch the baby carrier

"Transformation begin" I say in a weird robot voice

"Psshhhhsshh"

I put my hands on the sides of the carrier, straightened it before pulling out the handle of the carrier to face the baby

"Rings engaged"

"Chhkk"

I pull the cover over "Shield engaged"

"Chhkk"

"Nullify Target" I roll the carrier in a line on the table, by then the child was already laughing.

"Evacuate area"

"Brrrrr" the kid started clapping her chubby little hands which just melted my heart.

"And that is how you successfully make a baby shut up"

"You're welcome" Applause erupted making me take a bow

"No encore today folks" she catches me off guard by holding my hand suddenly,

"Hey wh.."

"Thank you for that"

"It's cool, just doing my civic duty as a lover of babies"

"Still, let me.." I cut her off,

"It's fine"

Leaving her dumbfounded, I noticed there was only one person on the line so I patiently waited till it was my turn.

"Hi, please can I have an Espresso with.." the person behind the counter cut me off as he shakes his head,

"Sorry mam, we don't have that"

"How do you not have that?!"

"The guy that usually makes it quit mid-shift and we haven't found a replacement yet"

I look at the time expecting it to be almost 9 "Look I don't have time for this, do you guys at least have donuts"

"I'm sorr.."

"Gahhh"

I storm out of the shop frustrated and angry at how my day was going, I just stand on the busy sidewalk silently and before I knew it tears came gushing out

'You've got to be kidding me'

I just lean on a nearby car and bow my head, waiting for my sorrow to run it's course.

A few minutes later I felt a hand tap my shoulders making me look up,

It was the lady from Starbucks with her kid.

I wipe my tears with the back of my sleeve immediately but she notices anyways.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

"It's nothing, just my stupid tear ducts reacting to me not getting coffee"

"Sorry about that.."

"Where are you heading now?"

The jam had cleared ages ago so I was pretty sure I could go to Café Grumpy now but..

"Uhh I was going to Café Grumpy but a jam came up so I had to go to Starbucks but I gue..." she cuts me off,

"That's on Broad St right?" I nod making her smile widen,

"Coincidentally Mia's daycare happens to be around there"

"the baby?"

"Yes, her name is Mia" the baby in the carrier laughs making me laugh along with her.

"Well if it's not a bother"

"Of course not" she opens her bag and get's out a car key, she presses one of the buttons making the car I leaned on beep.

She opened the back seat and fixed the baby on thee seat before turning to me

"Shall we?"

There wasn't a silent moment throughout the ride as we talked about everything that came to mind and Mia's cute laughter that sounded from time to time.

We had exchanged numbers in the car along the way.

We reached Broad St soon enough making her stop the car.

"I guess this is where we part"

"Make sure you call me, new friend"

"Totally.. new friend?"

With one more wave she drove off, I stood there for a while before finding my way to Café Grumpy.

I make my way to the counter as soon as I walk in seeing there was no line, the man behind it smiles as I get closer making me roll my eyes which was a bad idea.

I nearly tripped but caught my self and walked on liked nothing happened

"Long time no see Shane" I looked at him with raised brows,

"John.. I was literally here yesterday"

"Same thing, what are you having?"

"I need an Espresso and five donuts" He raises an eyebrow making me shrug in response.

"Five donuts?"

"Crazy right"

"You must have had a long day didn't you?" I look at my watch to check the time,

"And it's only 7" he laughs at me making me scowl.

"I know you'll regret it later but I'll comply with you're poor decisions"

"Whatever"
