Chapter 4: I Skipped School

I wake up in my bed. I look at the clock and it was 6 o'clock in the morning. It's time to get up and start my morning chores. But that's not right, or is it. It was just a nightmare. A very painful nightmare. As I was cooking breakfast Steven came down and hugged me

"Good job pumpkin." He said I think it meant for last night. I remember sneaking out and going to Daimyins house. And I remember the pain, not body pain but mental pain. Then I hear Caleb coming and I finished his plate by the time he sat down which is faster than my normal but he gave me a stare.

"Sir?" I ask

"Don't sir me." He seems extra hateful today. This comment earns him a glare from Steven. I put my hand on his arm to calm him down.

"Is there anything I can help you with sir?" I ask, trying to stay good so I can continue sneaking out.

"No." He says coldly, he's apparently in a mood. I finish everything in my normal chore list and I even did some of my afternoon chores. We leave, and the twins are still happy. Steven looks exhausted and I just want to get to school. I want to know what happened last night. I got to school and I only saw Tris, where is everyone else?

"Hey, Tris where is everyone?" I ask

"Home. We aren't going to school today. We want to talk." She says and I'm worried.

"But why?" I ask

"We need to talk, we are going home for the day," Tris says

"But..."

"No buts... We'll have you back in time to go home, but we also want you to come tonight... And don't worry about them calling your house, we took care of that." Tris says as she leads me to the bike. She hands me the helmet and I put it on.

"I know you have a lot of questions for us," Tris says as she checks my helmet is safely on

"Why do you guys only bring one helmet?" I ask

"Not the first question I thought you'd ask but it's because we don't need it, and no I won't answer anything until we get home," Tris says as we get on the bike and leave. We don't talk until we are walking in the door. I don't see anyone else.

"They are in the kitchen making food, don't worry. Outside of Daimyin however" Tris said as we are walking to the kitchen I'm guessing.

"Where is he?" I ask

"He's in his room... Yesterday took a lot out of him. He didn't want to do it but I made him. And for good reason to." She said but it seemed like she was beating herself up

"Why?" I ask remembering the pain

"We needed to see how much time we had to train you before you went insane." She said

"Train... Insane..." I'm trying to figure this all out. This is crazy

"I know this is a lot but trust me... You'll really think we are crazy by tonight." Tris said as she pulls her hair back to reveal a pointed ear... Like an elf ear

"Huh, that looks put on really well," I say trying to not believe

"It's real," She said as she tries to pull it off without success. This can't be real. I notice someone walk in.

"Hey, boo..." Alyx says. She looks at Tris and her ear

"Yes, I showed her now show her you," Tris says as she walks towards Alyx.

"Are you sure?" She asks

"Yes, I don't care what Daimyin or Buck think. We need to start now." Tris says convincing Alyx. Alyx came closer to me and her eyes started to glow, then her hair begins to lift up and glow. I run, I don't care where and I don't care if these woods are dangerous. These people are crazy. I don't hear anyone running after me. I run for about an hour until I'm so far from the house that I see a road. I then hear a growl from a dog. I turn around and I see a straight black wolf, about 3 times bigger than a normal wolf. Strangely I felt safe, I look into his eyes and I see Buck's bright blue eyes... But that's not possible. The wolf walks behind a tree and I hear wolf cries until I hear human cries. Buck walks out behind the tree with jeans on. He walks towards me.

"Buck there's a wolf!" I scream and he just chuckles.

"It's ok, he won't hurt you. Dakota thought you were hurt."

"Dakota?"

"Yeah... I'm a werewolf." Buck said and I was done, I passed out. I wake up and I'm on a couch. How did I get here? I had a strange dream. There was Alyx with glowing hair, Tris had elf ears... Buck was a wolf. No that's impossible.

"Hey, sleepyhead." I hear Daimyin say. He was in a chair right beside me, he was laying back and had his eyes closed.

"How long was I asleep?" I ask

"About an hour, you're fine." He says and I sigh in relief

"I had a strange dream," I say

"Well sugar, it wasn't a dream," Daimyin said

"But Tris had elf ears, and Alyx was glowing, and Buck..."

"Was a werewolf. Yes, I know baby." He said as he stroked my cheek with the back of his hand

"So what are you a vampire?"I ask playfully as his hand goes to mine

"No, a demon." He said so calmly and I knew he wasn't joking.

"How is this possible?" I whisper

"There are a lot of things you don't know about us." He says. Then I feel another hand on my cheek, I flinch to find Buck stroking my cheek.

"It's ok, I won't hurt you." He says cupping my face.

"I know you won't but will the wolf?" I ask really wanting to know.

"No not on purpose, but run into danger again and I can't promise anything." He says with a real promise in his eyes.

"Buck stop, you're scaring her," Daimyin said

"Good," Buck said

"Guys stop, she's scared out of her mind and you guys aren't helping." Ashley comes walking in with a cup.

"What's in that Ash?" Daimyin asks in a growl before I take it.

"Just a little calming and open-minded solutions. It's fine." She says

"Let her pass boys." Tris calmly forced. The boys seemed to scowl but let her pass. She handed me the cup and I drank it, not really caring what was in it. My mind said it was safe. I downed the entire cup even though it was very hot.

"Elexis?" Tris asked and I looked up

"Come with us please," Tris said. Tris and Ashley were in front of me, and Daimyin and Buck are behind me. They lead me outside where we join Alyx and the brothers.

"Elexis... We are going to show you who we really are. Please don't freak out again. We don't have that much time" Daimyin whispered in my ear

"Don't worry... None of us would ever hurt you purposefully." I heard Daimyin in my head. I nodded and he and Buck stood with the rest of them. Tris stepped forward. She pulled her hair back in a ponytail. Her ears were pointed. She walked towards me until we were touching. I wanted to touch them, if not to see if they were fake or not but out of fascination.

"May I?" I ask, she nodded. I took my hand to her ear and they were real. They felt as real as my own.

"I am an elf."

"What does that mean exactly."

"Well, we are usually a vicious species. We want to run the world. We taught ourselves to be above everything. No matter the consequence. Most love the cities while some love the country, like me and my family. Some have other special abilities. Me, for example, I can talk to animals and make them do whatever I want."

"Wait is that why Buck doesn't really like you?" I ask looking at Buck

"Why are you picking on me sugar?"

"Because it's fun... And I'm no house cat Bucky."

"Haha well Buck is harder but I can do it. And only when Dakota is present, you've met him." She smiles hugs me and goes back to her previous spot and Alyx takes her place.

"I don't have many physical things to show you but... If you give me a date or something to look for I can look for you." Alyx said as she points to her temple. I sit and think about a date.

"August 14, 2015." I say with my voice shaking. The day my dad died. She nodded and she closed her eyes. When she opened them they were glowing, a bright blue. And the red in her hair glowed. I back up a bit.

"A day of great sorrow for you..." Her voice changed

"But also a day of great importance... It's the day your power awoke... But also the day that made your life never be the same... It was the day your powers awoke but your father died." She said and she wasn't glowing anymore. I was balling and she hugged me.

"Does it hurt?" I ask, she shakes her head but she doesn't want to leave. I could feel Buck growl and he joined us.

"Alyx..." Buck warned

"Ok ok, I'm going," Alyx said as she moves back and is replaced by Buck

"Hey, Bucky..." I say with tears in my eye

"You know anyone else tries calling me that I'd rip their throats out." He said and he scared me, I started backing up but he just held me.

"But not you." He said

"I've already seen you..." I say pulling away

"Yeah before you passed out so you're going to see me again." He says as he backs up. He then goes behind a tree and comes out a wolf that's black with whites specks. He walks up to me and nuzzles his head into my hand, making me pet him.

"I was expecting a tough wolf... but your just a little soft puppy...: I tease and he nips at me

"My puppy." I whisper in his ear. He goes back behind the tree and came back as a human

"Let me guess, werewolf?"

"Yep." He answers as he comes hugs me

"Does it hurt?" I ask him. That's the biggest thing I want to know

"Don't worry about it. It's ok." He said trying to blow it off.

"Buck... Does it hurt?" I ask again with more force.

"Damn you can get scary... It used to hurt a lot, now it's mainly just uncomfortable." He said and I just hugged him

"I'm sorry," I say

"What are you sorry for? This is who I am, you can't change that." He said and he let me go. Brillo steps up.

"Hey, Ash can you?" He asks while looking at me

"Sure," Ashley said as she closes her eyes as I see huge black wings with rainbow tips, I look behind and see Fire have black wings with red tips. I also look at Daimyin and see a tail...and horns.

"Wait what!" I freak out. I back up and start hyperventilating.

"Whoa not all of us Ash! You're freaking her out." Daimyin screamed

"No it's fine, I'm ok... It just shocked me." I try to stay calm, I look at all of them. The wings on Brillo were beautiful. The rainbow of colors looked like they weren't really there, they shined brighter in the sunlight. I even saw little sparkles in the black. Azazel had the same black wings but the tips were red instead of rainbow. I focus on the wings to make sure I don't look at Daimyin. I can't handle him right now, I focus on Brillo and Azazel.

"How?" I ask

"We were born this way, all of us were," Brillo says

"But how do we not know about you guys?" I ask. How did us humans never notice them before

"Well your not really a human." Daimyin whispers, thinking I couldn't hear him, but I did.

"What do you mean... I'm not human?" I ask, looking at Daimyin forgetting he had horns but I didn't look away. I noticed his facial structure is more defined now, his horns were long, red, and curved into a loop

"Daimyin..." I say when he doesn't answer me.

"Are you sure you want to know?... Your life will change forever. It will never go back to the way it was." Daimyin says

"Quit scaring her D?" Buck said

"No, he isn't... My life pretty much ended the day my dad died... The only reason I'm alive is to protect my brothers. Without me then they would get what I get... Well... Maybe not all that I get..." I say Daimyin scares me into a bear hug

"I'm...sorry," Daimyin says and then I feel Buck at my back, hugging me. Then I hear someone clearing their throat and they let go of me.

"Not that I want to ruin the moment but we have a lot of training to do," Tris said. Buck and Daimyin returned to their places and Ashley took their place.

"So, you hide their...wings and horns," I say and then I look at Daimyin and I see it

"And tails apparently."

"You know... for someone who has never known about us, you sure you're not freaked out... I would be." Ashley asks

"Well... I've been praying for friends ever since we moved here... And I've always believed in things other than humans existed, just never knew what they were and if I knew any... Now I know both." I say

"Both?" Tris asked

"Knowing you guys were out there and... friends," I say and Buck came and hugged me.

"More than friends" Buck whispered in my ear

"Buck!" Daimyin screamed and Buck backed off

"What did that mean?" I ask

"Nothing you need to know yet... Trust me," Ashley wrapped her arm around my shoulders

"Now, I'll show you a little bit of what I do." She says as she leads us away from everyone else. She leads me to a huge tree.

"This is an oak tree, the only one in this forest. It's my family emblem." She showed me what was carved into the tree, a dragon.

"What's the dragon?"

"The second part of our emblem, the dragon is protecting the tree, not firing on it... Unlike what most people believe, dragons are protectors of people." Ashley was explaining in a deep voice like she was remembering it.

"Anyway, we'll get to that but I want to show you something." She said as she steps back

"What are you going to do?" I ask

"Watch," She says with a smile

"Elementa tamcn aeris. aqua, terra, ignis, et spiritus;" She said while facing me

"Aerem ab oriente voco ad emundandum nos verno aere." She faced one way and I felt a breeze, I smelled lilac flowers

"Ignem ab austro voco, benedictio caloris adferre te volo" She faced another direction and I felt warm

"Voco aquam ab occidente curas omnes abluere" She faced another direction

"terram septentrionis voco terram in circuitu nostro" She faced me again

"Hinc et nunc spiritum voco, nullum directum, nullum tempus. Quaeso, permitte mihi ut amicum meum... ostendas ducem nostrum" She finished. I was lifted in the air, I spun and saw a fire around me even though I wasn't burning I just felt warm, I then saw the water circling the fire, I then landed softly and the ground engulfed me, I didn't suffocate. I just saw all the different minerals and plants in the ground. Then I'm back with Ashley but I'm above her. I see Ashley... and me, what is going on? Then I'm back.

"What just happened?" I say I feel like I'm going to puke.

"I showed you the power of the elements, the air lifted you up, the fire, the water, you went down into the earth, and you saw us in your spirit form. This is only one of the many things I can do. I hid the boy's wings and... horns... I'm a witch if you need a name."

"Oh god, I'm gonna puke," I say as I see stars and darkness.

"Whoa whoa. El don't pass out." Is the last thing I heard before passing out. I don't see anything or dream anything but by the time I wake up I'm on a couch with hands over my eyes, I sit up.

"What happened?" I ask Ashley whose hands were over my head.

"You passed out. Your ok, I was just speeding up the healing." Ashley said. I'm guessing I look confused because she continues

"Healing is another one of my powers, I heal others through my hands but I can't heal myself." She says

"Well, what can you heal?" I ask

"I can heal pretty much anything. From the smallest paper cut to even some diseases." She said

"Wow, so how long was I out?" I ask now looking around the room and we are alone.

"About a half-hour. I used another power to bring you back here." She says

"Which is?" I ask

"Teleportation... Well, it really isn't a power, it's a spell."

"Hey!" Someone yelled at us, we turned around and saw Tris running at us

"We need to get going if we need to get you to school before it ends

"Ok, we are coming," Ashley said.

"Hey, can I ask a question?" I ask

"Sure, anything. That's what today was for but it was pretty much a show and tell." Tris said

"What did you mean when you said train this morning?" I ask

"Well, we haven't really gotten that far. We will explain all of that tonight, I promise." Tris says

"You better because I'm going to go crazy. What the hell is going on?" I ask

"Tonight El ok. Trust us." Daimyin said as he walked up behind me and hugged me, I was engulfed in his scent.

"You know, nothing surprises me anymore. I just learned that there are species other than humans in the world, others that I have become friends with... Another question... why did you guys tell me?"

"Tonight, trust us."

"Fine but it's going to drive me nuts until I figure this out. You tell me there are beings above humans and then you tell me to wait... I can't do this anymore..." I say and scream and I try to get out of Daimyins hold but he doesn't let me go.

"Trust us, the only reason we are waiting until tonight is because we... I need you to have a safe home..." Daimyin says

"My safe home is here... with you guys. I haven't had a home in a year." I say and Daimyin turns me around and he hugs me.

"Ok... but I can't watch them hurt you again..." He says while I try to pull away but he wouldn't let me so I just look up.

"Watch?" I ask

"Haha" Daimyin nervously laughs

"How long have you been watching me?" I ask getting worried and breaking from Daimyins grasp

"About 7 months," Daimyin says

"WHAT!!" I scream at him

"Woah calm down everyone," Alyx says

"You guys have been watching me for 7 months! How can I calm down?" I scream some more

"We have only watched you because..." Daimyin says

"Ahh no... Tonight, we can only tell her at midnight...remember?" Tris says.

"Elexis try to be here before midnight because there's a deadline for these things," Daimyin says

"Ugh fine... Just get me out of here." I say as I start running out. I walk to the bike but before I got there I walked into a bright light and then I see the school and I'm holding my bag. I feel dizzy and nauseous. I look and no one noticed but then I see the car and I leave.

11:00 pm

Me: I don't think I want to go

Brain: You have to

Me: No I don't

Brain: Yes you do trust me

Me: I haven't trusted myself in a long time

Brain: Learn... Or your dead in a few weeks

Me: Ugh fine but how do I get there, I kinda can't walk there.

Brain: Let Ashley in

Me: How

Brain: She'll let you know when it's time

Right on cue, I felt a sort of... knock in my mind and recognized it as Ashley, I sort of opened the door for her. Then the light from earlier came and I see Damyin holding me. I start balling my eyes, I feel a great pressure in my head like it wasn't just me in there.

"Ash get out of her head!" Daimyin screams

"I'm not in, it must be either Cherokee or Banshee," Ashley said

"Cherokee... Banshee... Who are they?" I ask

"Well... They are your wolf and demon." Daimyin says

"My wolf and demon... I'm human! I can't be a wolf or a demon!" I scream

"Actually you can, you've had them all your life but that can't come out until the time is right," Daimyin says

"What do you mean?!" I scream

"Have you ever felt like you have another voice in your head or your mind has felt full?" Tris asks

"Yes... How did you know?" I ask

"It's because you have 2 other people in your mind. You have you, your human part, your wolf and your demon. Not to mention everything else you have and can do." Daimyin says

"Woah woah woah" I say and pass out and I float up and I see everyone over my body

"Damn it, it's not time yet," Daimyin says

"Well, it seems she is going to be out until she sees it," Tris says

I float higher and higher until I see a forest and a pond. This is the place that my dad took us fishing to.

"Hey pumpkin," Someone behind me said. I turn around and see my dad

"Dad!" I scream and hug him. We just stand there hugging

"Dad, as much as I love seeing you and I'm pretty sure I'm dreaming... but what are you doing here?" I ask

"I'm here to talk and help you through this. This... is all real pumpkin. Everything that they have said is the truth and is real." Dad said

"How do you know? I mean I know and trust it but some part of me believes they are telling me this and I'm going to wake up and this is all a dream that... that my friends are a dream." I say balling into him

"Pumpkin... trust me every little thing that they have told you is the truth... I'm not allowed to say much but what I can say is... You are not human..." Dad says

"Wait... what?" I ask

"You are a piece of every species that you protect...crap!" Dad slips out

"Protect?" I ask

"That part I wasn't supposed to tell you... As you've been told you have a piece of a wolf and a demon but you also have the powers of the others. You have wings like the angels, ears like an elf, the hair of the oracle... You are a one of the kind." He says

"I don't want to be a one of a kind! I want to be normal! I've been normal all my life and I don't want that to change." I say

"Do you remember when you were little and you mixed potions or would try to control the water in your bath?" Dad asks

"Haha yeah I do... never thought I'd actually get to do that... So all of this is real? But why haven't I tapped into it before?"

"You have had your wolf and demon with you since you were born... You know the conversations you have with yourself are your wolf and demon fighting for the front. What I've heard is the wolf and demon are suppressed until The Guard comes and brings them forward. Last year when you tried to commit suicide... Was your demon trying to front," Dad was explaining.

"But why try to kill me when the demon gets killed too?" I ask

"Your demon is young and doesn't understand. Your wolf and demon are the same age as you, they grow with you, learn to control with you... You just have to let them." Dad says

"I'm scared" I confess

"I know pumpkin. You'll understand better once you see the prophecy at midnight." Dad says

"That's what they said, at midnight I'd understand," I say

"Pumpkin, you'll understand. But one other thing you need to know and we only have a couple of minutes until the spell starts." Dad says

"Ok... what dad?" I ask

"Well as a father this is hard to accept this but..." Dad says

"But what dad, the suspense is killing me." I plead

"Buck and Daimyin... are another prophecy about you... they are your mates." Dad says

"MATES!" I scream

"Woah we don't have a lot of time and I need to tell you... Because you have a wolf and a demon they have mates of their species so the wolf and the demon have a mate and a name, although I don't know those... But Buck is your wolf's mate and Daimyin is your demon's mate."

"I thought a person can only have one if that?" I ask

"Well, you're not just any person. Now it's almost time but trust me pumpkin. And trust them." Dad says and that's the last thing I hear when I'm sucked away and it's dark, I see a fire in the middle of 7 people in a forest, the same forest that dad took us to.

"We all know why we are here." A lady said, it seems like she's in charge. She has a low raspy voice

"We can't let this harmony continue any longer." The lady says and the other 6 agree

"This harmony is against everything we stand for." A man says, he doesn't have a tail but he has horns and wings, he's a demon

"Yes, it is. My curse will ensure the war of every species will continue for a milennia." The lady said, she's the witch

"Nothing can stop us!" A man with wings said

"Don't be so naive!" The lady said

"And why not! This is the harmony's end!" Another woman said

"To every curse, there is a loophole. Every 100 years a teenager will be born, this teenager will have a part of all of us. He or she will have your wings, your horns, our powers. This teenager needs to learn to control the powers before they kill and the next great battle." The lady said

Then I drifted again and I see another person just staring at me. He was glowing like Alyx so he must be an oracle.

"The feud of all 8 species has been going on for a thousand years. Each 100 years there is a teenager that can end the feud or make it worse

In the early 1018, there was harmony between all species including humans, the humans knew about them and loved them. They worshipped them as gods and goddesses.

However, there was a witch that didn't like the harmony, she recruited others of her same vision and made sure the feud continued. So with the help of 6 other people, she created the hex.

The hex made sure that the fighting would go on forever. However, the hex had a loophole. Every 100 years there would be a teenager that could end the war forever. But that teenager won't know until they are 16 and the Guard comes to awaken their powers. This teenager will be able to have every power that the Guard has, including their physical and mental powers.

The Guard is to help the chosen one become their full potential, they will consist of the same as the council that created the hex. The Knights are the only ones over everyone, they are the council of this time. They help the Guard and Chosen One each generation."
