Book of Fates

Fate

By Arfiya khan Published 12 months ago 3 min read

Start writingIra got married. The wedding was held in her husband's village. And the next day the young wife fell ill... In the morning her temperature rose, and she started coughing. The mother-in-law suggested that she consult a local healer.

- Why? - asked the daughter-in-law. - Just give me some cold medicine.

- In the city, people poison themselves with pills, but here Mother Nature treats with herbs, spells, and prayers.

Irina did not contradict her mother-in-law from the first days of her marriage and agreed. And she thought to herself: "I've ended up in the last century: fortune tellers, sorceresses..."

The healer lived on the edge of the village. Ira entered her hut, and everywhere as far as the eye could see, herbs were drying, there was a smell of mold and some kind of acrid smoke.

- Come in, daughter, - invited the healer.

The girl entered the room. Rugs were spread on the floor, there was a table with a bench. There is a large, old book on the table, and a feather from some bird next to it. She sits the sick woman down opposite her, opens the book and asks:

- Do you want to know how many children you will have?

And Irina is sitting there, barely alive, almost falling over from weakness. "It's strange," she thinks, "she asks such questions, after all, I came here to be treated."

- I have no time for this, I'm sick. I would like some medicine for my fever and cough.

- Let me take a look, - the healer said stubbornly and looked into the book.

Suddenly she began to talk loudly to someone in an incomprehensible language.

"She's probably crazy," the girl thinks, - she's going to pounce on me now. What a mess I've gotten myself into! And why did my mother-in-law send me here? "

Soon the healer said:

- Your first will be a boy. But... wait... I can't see his eyes, they're covered with a veil. There might be trouble. Beware of the man in the red hat. The second girl will grow up to be a beauty. The third will be a son - an athlete. I see him with a ball.

When she finished her predictions, Ira felt, oddly enough, better and, having received the decoctions, left.

In the city, she forgot this story, and soon found out that she was pregnant. When the pregnancy period approached four and a half months, Irina fell ... It happened like this: a minibus arrived, everyone began to get on, but some impatient man awkwardly pushed her, and she fell on her stomach. She got up right away and did not feel anything special, and at night she felt ill. They called an ambulance. The doctors announced that the child was dead and an urgent cesarean section was needed.

- Well, my girl, - the doctor said then, - if you had waited until the morning, blood poisoning would have set in.

Ira lost the child. It was a boy ... That's when she remembered the prediction. That's why the fortuneteller did not see her son's eyes. And the hat..., yes, it was a red hat that the man who pushed her was wearing!

Then she gave birth to a daughter, and then a son. Everything happened as the healer predicted.

Who she was talking to then and what was written in the ancient book remained a mystery to the woman. But Irina had no doubt that she saw her future in it!

Here are the lessons from the story:
