Far Too Late for Love to Blossom

I wish I had met you sooner.

We could have built a life together, but instead, we locked eyes while the skies caught fire. Our sun took one final breath before collapsing onto itself.

Exploding outward from within.

Supernova in the blink of an eye. Unfathomable fire sweeping across boundless space. Stone and metal melted all around us. Burning in the crucible of a dying star's infinite rage.

Revenge for our hubris?

Beneath the screams, behind the pain, deep in your eyes, I saw another world reflected back at me.

Far too late for love to blossom.

It was you. It was me. It was us. Two stories that collided just before their end.

I wish I had known you.

That world, in your eyes, played back like a film on repeat. You gave me a cameo in those unrequited memories.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

They tried to warn us, but they were few. The ones in control? They were many.

They chose to do nothing.

We were both running. From what, I wonder?

You tried your best.

Maybe this isn't the end. Maybe our souls endure.

In a place where stars still burn.

I'll find you there.

Ooo great piece! Poetic and the form echoes the brevity. Bravo

A lot of story in this short piece! Love the poetic echoing of the italicized lines! Very well wrought, Bradley!

This is thought-provoking because of the back and forth between the two voices. They lead you to love but there's also a lot suggested too. I like the way it's not all laid out but there's enough to piece together a picture.

This one hits deep! It’s all about missed chances and cosmic fate—like two souls who met at the wrong time, right before everything exploded. The whole idea of souls enduring in a place where stars still burn is a nice touch. It’s a wild, beautiful journey even if it didn’t end the way we wanted.
