Arthur and Amica – Owl story
There were shelves filled with books. Books that were not much use to a common person. Books more for nerds or geeks. As it turns out, the person who owns these books was in fact a nerd. His name is Arthur. Arthur Callidus. Callidus in Latin means clever so really nobody was surprised to see that Arthur was smart however nobody knew how smart. Well, Arthur was the cleverest child in the country, better than years elevens even though he was still in year six. So when it came to sats it was no surprise he got full marks. He was now on the first day of high-school and he had just woken up from a 5-hour sleep. He slept less just like his guide Elon Musk. His dream was to meet Musk and try to replicate whatever he did. He thought of Musk as a God. He was reading his biography “Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the "Quest for a Fantastic Future”. He had shelves as walls filled with books, a desk with 10 pencils for maths equations, 5 filled notebooks about maths, a laptop that was not for gaming but for learning how a computer works and how to make an operating system like IOS and Android combined to make his own software which he could hope to present to Musk when he announced that he will be making a phone. Arthur also had a really small bed with a small table next to it with an alarm clock that woke him up at 5 am every day after a 5-hour sleep. However, his most prised possession was his trophy cabinet which was filled with trophies and certificates that he had won starting from the age of four. The trophies were in order of how much they meant to him. The first one was a trophy that he had just won. It was given to him when he won the worldwide maths competition in which there were university degree questions. Arthur’s room was also tidy and everything was in place.
There is one thing that I have not mentioned. That is that poor Arthur was blessed with so much knowledge however he did not have any friends. The people who had spent 7 years with him in primary school were jealous and therefore never bothered to be friends with him. He even tried to make friends by letting people copy of him but still, they would not be friends with him. However, Arthur had 1 friend. His pet owl called Amica. She was the main reason why Arthur never gave up on life. It however was not the same as having a human friend. His owl was in its own cage and Arthur had trained him so much that the owl would never make a mess in Arthurs room or its own cage.
Arthur was doing some maths when he saw his alarm clock red 8:15. It was time for school. Arthur attended Stonewall Grammer School. He lived 5 minutes away from school so that he could work till the last minute and go to school on time.
When he arrived at school, people did not klnow how clever Arthur was and so for the first time ever he made a friend. His name was Robert. He was in year eleven. He was so kind and really seemed clever. However Arthur did not know that Robert was a child who really was a bully. He seemed clever but was not. He knew that Arthur was a nerd and therefore wanted his life to be bad. He knew Arthur because Arthur had beaten Robert in a test at school when Robert was in year 4 and Arthur in reception. Ever since then he had tried to bully eveyone who came in his way. Arthur however did not remember him.
When the day had reached 12:00, everyone knew the kid who was so clever that he was given seperate work to the people even in the top year eleven set. Arthur then was invited to go to the headteachers office to talk about maths and even the possibility of going to university without having to study at high-school or collage.
When Arthur had left the head’s office, he was met by Robert. Robert asked him to meet at Crooked Road to give him a hard maths question. Arthur agreed and was so desprate for school to finsh so that he could see the question.
When the bell for school rang, Arthur dashed home, dropped his bag off in his room and went straight to Crooked Road. When he arrived, Robert lead him to a dark alliway and showed him the same test from reception and then in a flash Arthur realised who Robert actually was. But it was too late. He was being circled by men who were 6 feet tall. This place smelt like owl dropping but that dint matter at this moment as Robert got ready to throw out a punch.
“Hoot,” hooted Amica. She dropped pebbles on the bullies and they were all knocked out the the owl. She had been Arthur’s saviour.
“Thanks!” cried Arthur joyfully as his owl was sitting on his arm. “You saved me from the bullies. How did you know where I was?”
Arthur was delighted that he knew how loyal and useful his owl was. He then went to the shop to buy Amica some owl treats.
As Arthur always did he analised everthing that happens to him and when he finished analising the event he came to a conclusion “Do go out with people who you do not know fully.”
. Amica means friend in italian
