“He’s not taking water anymore” Jason said, setting the pitcher down.

Lizzy turns from the dishwasher. Her hands twisting nervously, “Will he make it through Christmas?”

Jason nodded as the scent of dark roasted coffee calls to him from the table, “I believe he will. It will be fine.”

Their cozy kitchen smelled like warm cinnamon buns and fresh java. Lizzy sat across from him, sliding over a sticky bun.

“I want Christmas to be perfect for the kids” Lizzy said softly.

“It will. Pictures, memories, everything.” Jason reassured.

“But if he is dieing..” Lizzy responds.

“Lizzy, it’s a tree. It was dead the minute it was cut down.” Jason smirks.

Haha, love the twist at the end! Such a relatable holiday "worry" spun into humor—classic festive banter!✨

Great little story you have here. I thought a person was dying at the beginning and surprised at the end. Good job.

Funny and sad at the same time…for the tree! Well-written, poignant humour, Daphne.
