A Dark & Stormy Night

A Night You'll Never Forget

By George HallPublished 5 months ago 4 min read

Mark was driving alone, along the road at night, when his car suddenly decided to break down. He was on holiday in a quaint little town in Yorkshire and just so happened to break down near a phone booth. With the lights still on, he got out of his car and walked over to the phone booth and called up for a break down truck. The recipient answered the phone and said he couldn’t be there for an hour. So, Mark decided to reluctantly wait till he arrived.

There was a forestry area across the road, so Mark decided he would go for a walk in the woods while he waited for the driver. He glanced at his watch to keep an eye on the time.

He decided to head into the bushes to do his business. While he was there, he stumbled across an old shack and went to investigate. Mark thought maybe someone might be home and he could ask to wait for a while, especially as it was starting to rain. He knocked on the door and it opened. He decided to look around, but nobody was there.

As he left the premise he was greeted by a cloaked figure, as the storm began. wearing a v for vendetta style mask. He was holding a large axe.

Just when Mark thought maybe he could ask for help. The strange lunged at him with his axe. Mark legged it out of the woods and back to his car. Hoping the fiend wouldn't follow. He arrived back at his car panting for breath.

Suddenly, he could see some lights in the distance down the road. It seemed the break down truck had finally arrived.

The man drove up to his car.

"Hello there, I'm here to fix your car" they yelled.

"Great, thanks" yelled Mark from under his breath as the storm became worst.

The man got out and began to work on the car.

"You can sit in my car while you wait if you like, the man replied.

So, mark quickly leapt into his car while he did the work.

While he was sitting there, he noticed something rather strange in the back of the car, covered in a blanket. He pulled it off to reveal what looked like a dead body and an exact duplicate of the man who was fixing his car.

Mark freaked out and got out of the car.

"What's going on?!" He exclaimed.

"My bad, said the man as he cackled. "I always have a bag habit of leaving my victims' bodies behind"

He reached for his neck and began to slowly distort his face, pulling off a realistic mask to reveal the same guy he'd encountered in the woods with the face mask.

The man lounged again at Mark. But this time Mark was prepared.

Mark had grabbed a metal pole, nearby that was on the side of the road to prevent the man from striking him.

Mark then used the now hooked blade, to push it back at him, knocking the guy onto the car and in the process knocking him temporarily unconscious.

He quickly jumped into the truck and drove off, his heart beating rapidly. As he drove down the road and slowly recovered from the ordeal. He noticed a women parked at the side of the road who waved at him, so he decided to pulled over. He got out of car and walked up to her.

“Oh, thank you so much sir” she stated, “I’ve been parked here for ages and no one has come to help me”.

“That’s alright” Mark replied, “Though I'm not actually a mechanic. I just had a rather stressful ordeal with someone pretending to be a mechanic, as I broke down not much further up the road”

“Oh i see” she replied

Mark went on to tell his harrowing tale to the lady.

“Oh no, that sounds horrible!” she exclaimed

“Anyway, I don’t think it’s safe here, that guy could come back any minute” Mark explained, “you should get in the car with me and we can find a hotel for the night, we can call a mechanic tomorrow morning”

“Sounds like a plan” the women replied, as they both hopped into the car

“I’m Jessica, by the way” she stated

“I’m Mark” he replied

The drove off into the night and found a nearby hotel to stay in and decided to spend the night together.

They paid and made their way into their room and prepared to settle in for the night. As they were about to go to bed, they heard a knock on the door and Mark opened it to see the hotel owner standing in the hallway.

“Hi, is everything ok?’ Mark asked

“Yes” the lady replied, “Just wanted to check you’ve settle in alright”

At that moment, the lady lunged at Mark and reveal an axe from behind.

Mark acted quickly and got into a tussle, with the women.

Jessica was paralysed with fear as she stood in the corner of the room, watching on in horror.

Mark managed to wrestle the women close to the window at the side of the room.

“Open the window!” he yelled at Jessica

Jessica reluctantly obliged

Mark gathered all his strength and managed to push the women out the window.

She fell straight down into a trash can, at the bottom of the hotel.

Mark was breathless and reluctantly looked out the window to find the women covered in blood. Jessica was stress out, now pinned back against the wall. What an ordeal this had all been. The two hugged each other and decided to celebrate with an intense night of love making.
