**A Crime in the Late Night**

Inspector Jack Faces a Deadly Mystery in an Abandoned House

In the middle of a dark night, with only the howl of the wind and the distant barking of a dog breaking the silence, Inspector Jack stood before an old, abandoned house. The repeated reports of strange screams coming from this house had worried the neighborhood residents, prompting him to investigate personally.

With hesitant steps, Jack entered the house, carrying a small flashlight. The doors creaked loudly every time they opened, and the walls were covered in a thick layer of dust, with cobwebs in every corner. Jack felt as though eyes were watching him from the shadows, but he ignored the feeling and pressed on.

In the abandoned living room, he found a pile of old papers scattered across the floor. He picked one up, and it was filled with strange, disorganized handwriting. Words like "curse," "betrayal," and "death" were disturbingly repeated. Among the papers, Jack found a picture of a man in his forties, smiling next to a young woman holding a bouquet of flowers.

As he stared at the photo, he heard faint footsteps coming from upstairs. His heart raced, but he wasn't the type to retreat.

He told himself, "There's no time for fear now. I need to know what's going on here."

He cautiously climbed the stairs, each step creaking like a muffled scream.

When he reached the top floor, he found a door wide open. The faint moonlight filtered through a broken window, illuminating an old bedroom. In the middle of the room stood a rocking chair, moving slowly as if an invisible person were sitting in it. Jack paused for a moment, trying to make sense of what he saw, but found no logical explanation.

He said softly, "Who's there? Show yourself!"

He cautiously approached the chair, and when he found nothing, he breathed a sigh of relief. But suddenly, he felt a cold hand touch his shoulder. He turned quickly, but saw no one. A faint whisper began to fill the room:

"Leave... get out of here..."

Despite the mysterious voice's warning, Jack continued to explore the room. He noticed an old wardrobe that appeared to have not been opened in years. When he opened it, he found a small locked box inside. He took the box with him and went downstairs, determined to examine it in a safer place.

Back at the police station, Jack carefully opened the box. Inside, he found handwritten journals and another picture of the same man from the first photo, but this time he was standing next to a different woman. The story began to become clearer; it seemed that a betrayal had occurred in the past, and the house had been the scene of a heinous crime.

In the pages of the journal, there were confessions written by the man, admitting that he had committed a murder in a fit of rage when he discovered his wife’s betrayal. He wrote about his guilt and how he would hear the voices of his victims every night, until he decided to end his life in the same house.

Jack said, astonished, "My God... how many horrifying secrets do these walls hold?"

Jack began to search for the history of the house and its previous occupants. He discovered that the man’s name was Mark, and he had mysteriously disappeared twenty years ago. But his body was never found.

That night, Jack returned to the abandoned house with a police team. They began digging in the backyard based on a clue found in the journal. After hours of work, they unearthed human remains buried deep.

One of the officers said, "These remains might be the evidence we need to close the case."

Forensic tests confirmed the bones belonged to Mark. But the biggest surprise came when they discovered other remains that belonged to an unknown woman. It seemed the story was more complex than it appeared.

As Jack tried to piece together the evidence and connect the dots, he received a call from the forensic lab. They told him that the woman's DNA matched an old missing persons report for a woman named Lisa, who was Mark's second wife.

Jack said angrily, "So, he wasn't just a killer, but a serial monster."

It became clear that Mark hadn't only killed his first wife, but also his second wife. The house carried darker secrets than Jack had ever imagined.

In the end, the house was closed and listed as a historical crime site. But Jack couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something else he hadn’t discovered. Sometimes, in his dreams, he would hear a whisper saying:

"The story isn't over yet..."

And so, the late-night crime remained an enigma, buried with its victims’ secrets.
