2022 The Daring Year of Wits, Tenacity, and Triumph
Long overdue, the heroic commoners engaged and won.
The 2022 uprising followed two years of failure to stop the virus, which wiped out millions of vulnerable lives. The human herd became immune. Stronger because they had survived, they looked to the Thinkers, The Environmentalists, and the Scientists. They demanded a future restoration of the planet to one of abundance for all.
Men who could hire guns and armies had different ideas. They wanted to protect what they had stolen from desperate workers and lesser greedy entrepreneurs or even third world countries who mistook the mining of their land for an opportunity to rise in the ranks to a second or first world.
Even with their guns and mercenaries, the elite couldn’t match the sheer volume of starving yet valiant commoners. The workers joined forces used wits and tenacity to battle the soldiers of fortune. The common people turned them to their cause or wiped them and their masters off the planet’s surface.
New leaders distributed all lands and properties to the population for communities to work together. Working the land the old way with the use of nature and rotation. Restoration of ecosystems to their former glory included that of neighbors assisting neighbors. Shared urban food forests where communities grew fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs, and flowers for themselves. Even allotments where space allowed and planter boxes where space was scarce.
Pollinators returned in flurries, delighted at their tasks. Environmentalists took out streetlights, giving moths a chance to reproduce undisturbed by attractive yet deadly eco-friendly light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs. Once again, covering the nectar drinking and pollinating nightshift, crops became abundant.
Ruled not by a lord but by councils of experienced and knowledgeable, old and young, women and men who wanted lives lived in harmony with the land, oceans, and creatures.
A real-life utopia is possible. With the right laws, we can all own the earth. We can all contribute. We can all eat healthy food, own a piece of land to live on in a tiny organic house, or sprawling ranches for families and communes. That’s what shared wealth looks like.
There will be no offices or cubicles, stocks, or shares. We’ll live, work and play locally. Skilled planners will work with sustainability experts. No longer pushing digital paper and project-planning the latest pesticide, plastic, or water-guzzling food production. Instead, they’ll introduce premium products and services which benefit humans and all creatures, as well as the planet.
We’ll use our four-legged friends to transport goods and wares from afar, just like we used to in long-gone times. Perhaps ships or Elon Musk flying vehicles will be our other options. There will be no traffic jams or congestion. Teleportation could exist in the future.
We will reverse climate change by embracing Mother Earth, and she will provide us with the means to live long, healthy, and worthwhile lives.
BUT there will always be those that choose to steal what they want…
No longer will patriarchs steal from the masses while lounging in their diamond-encrusted skyscrapers. Instead, strong, dangerous young women and men who believed everyone had the right to more will take their cut from the spoils of the battle and the land. In exchange, they may choose to protect and serve their communities, enabling them to choose better.
No longer weak and reliant on the minimum wage scraps once thrown to them, individuals and families, farmers, creators, scientists, environmentalists, and forward thinkers will rise. Stronger, mightier, and in possession of abundant resolution to protect their lives and what they work for from those who seek to rob them of it.
Never again will world leaders permit inequity to triumph.
Abundance for all.
