The Iconic Ice Cream
Summer is salubrious and with the heat smothering our winds a cool relief of a sweet treat is beneficial for our taste buds. Whether you are walking through NYC park, passing a cart filled with Ice-cream delights, or jumping off the school bus waiting for the ice cream truck jingle, we all share pleasure with Ice-cream during the summertime especially.

The heat during the summertime calls for a sweet tooth craving to save our taste buds from drying out. We all yell “Ice cream”, a heavenly delight that can cool our sweaty backs with all ease and maybe giggles. Summer days are effortlessly endless like the choices of flavors and styles of Ice cream shared throughout our world. The coolest fact I have heard about Ice cream is that one summery day long ago, George Washington spent two hundred dollars on ice cream in one purchase, and all of it was eaten in one day due to no refrigeration. After that well, the creative combinations of the luscious treat were on the rise even to this day.
My favorite spot here in Houston for Ice cream is a place called Smoosh. At Smoosh you can choose from multiple pastries that allow you to take one to two scoops of any flavor ice cream of your choice in stick it between those two pastries. The concept is delectable and quite fulfilling I tend to go there even when it’s not a hot summer day just because ice cream is such a palatable treat.
Just like people, ice cream comes in many different styles, colors and flavors. Rita’s is another place that my family loves to get together and go to. The shop Rita’s provides creamier ice cream and a style of service that reminds you of an Ice cream truck. Each location is known to have a window or two located outside of the shop you and your loved ones could order from. Very similar to another family favorite Roosters, however, Rooster provides more of a selection such as the awesome fun banana split or even a brownie boat. Roosters is an outdoor sit underneath the shaded heat place.
Ice cream isn’t only creamy and delightful it could be Icey as well. Back in my childhood days after waiting with my dad to get off from serving, I would be on his shoulders as we would walked home and pass the grocery store. Especially on summer days, it would be so scorching we would reward ourselves with a cooling icy treat by grabbing a bag of about thirty unfrozen popsicles from HEB. Getting home was the relief of it all we would then pop them in the freezer to freeze until solid. Once we were all washed up me and my siblings would enjoy it best when the popsicles were not completely frozen and slurp them right up. The icy treat has my mouth watering thinking about them.
Recently during the peak of summer, I and the whole family went to try this new Italian ice-cream joint called Jeremiah’s. It was so fun and chilled us up so fast, quickly served all of us. Our Lola decided to sit outside and skip the drive-through. Italian ice cream at Jeremiah’s is served differently, you can choose from a flavor of Icey that is swirled around with thick vanilla or chocolate ice cream. My cousin Sarah chose a brilliant combination of blueberry with vanilla and when melted together it tasted like a yummy blueberry pie. Lola and I shared a nice salted caramel swirled with vanilla that gave off a coffee toffee taste which put a kick to our steps leaving.
Another summertime memory was picking up a pint of Ben and Jerry with my sisters. Enjoying eating it all in one sitting happened at least once a month during the summer. I recommend freezing it in the freezer even after buying, allowing the ice cream becomes very solid then grabbing two cookies of any kind of your liking in my case M&M cookies are store-bought from a local Grocery store. Once it’s fully frozen completely turn the whole pint of ice cream on its side and take a sharp knife and slice it into 3/4. Then you’ll have sliced ice cream and you can put it on the cookie and it will be a cookie ice-cream sandwich and those are the best. Many people would argue that it’s not a meal but you could remind them that it is a sandwich and the heat just has them delusional if they convince you otherwise. Try it and see how it cools you the best.
Living in Houston Texas the demand for Icecream is neverending and creating more ways to serve the delightful food whether it is melting on something warm or dripping down onto your shirt Ice cream is known to leave everyone smiling with blissfulness. Summer to me has always tasted like endless scoops of ice cream in any way possible I am determined to try them all eventually.
