lazy person's vegan oreo microwave layer cake

so lazy you'll facepalm

Not my photo, but it should look extremely similar but no choco pieces and less cream

How lazy can you get? If we have a competition, I would win. But like, I'm also too lazy to have a competition. So, I think you can understand when I say I find the easiest ways to do things. Call it efficiency or practicality. The issue though is that it kind of sucks when you have a sweet tooth but you're also broke and lazy. Everything is so expensive but also takes so much energy to make. So, what do you do? You invent makeshift desserts. It's kind of genius actually. It's so genius that people want to smack themselves for not having thought of it themselves. So little effort but actually pretty good. Of course I'm not gonna say it's phenomenal, but for a broke uni student who's lazy, it's pretty dang good for the amount of effort it takes. A quick fix, if you will.

The only two things you need in this recipe are:

- Oreos

- non dairy drink substitute of any kind

You can experiment with the flavours and add other stuff, but we'll talk about that later. See below for details. As for right now, here is the basic of the basic:

MATERIALS:

- one bowl/container that is flat and even at the bottom

- another bowl of any kind

-plate for serving

RECIPE:

1. take out the filling of 2-3 oreos and put it in a bowl

2. crush the oreo cookie pieces in a separate bowl. This bowl should ideally be flat at the bottem and would allow for even distribution. I like to use a glass container that is round or square.

3. pour some non-dairy drink in the cookie crumble (about a teaspoon)

4. mix and crush until there are no large pieces and the consistency is similar to oatmeal. Add more non-dairy drink if necessary.

5. place in microwave and cook for 45 seconds-1 minute or until there are no evident soggy places (color is usually lighter when cooked)

6. cool (or not) and use a fork to take the spongey pancake-like oreo cake out and place on plate.

7. Take the filling that was set aside and spread on top. You can mash if first if you have other things to add to it but more on that later.

8. repeat the process and place each layer on top until you have what looks like a crepe cake

9. top it with an oreo if you want

WAYS TO SPICE IT UP

1. using different non-dairy subsitutes create slightly different results. Using rice drink gives a slightly thinner cake and coconut milk makes it slightly denser. I like ones that are vanilla flavored. It gives me the classic vanilla cake kind of flavor even with chocolate oreos.

2. using different types of oreos gives different flavours. I like using the carrot cake flavoured oreos or vanilla ones. (Since I'm one of those rare ones who prefer vanilla over chocolate)

2. Adding other flavors to the filling makes it taste so much better. I like adding some vegan cream cheese to the filling for more of a cheesecake taste. This with the carrot cake oreos is the chef's kiss. Adding melted chocolate to the filling, in combination to the chocolate oreo cake is chocolate heaven. Or if you are one of those sinners who actually likes sprinkles then go ahead. But yikes indeed.

And there ya go. Easy dessert when you want it. Dress it up and it's like wow this actually seems legit, or keep it basic for a quick fix for your sweet tooth. You're welcome.
