... But What If You Saw A Profound Wisdom In What Happened

THEY SAY THAT REJECTION IS PROTECTION

Whenever I look at other people of my own age, I realise that being unpopular has made me very, very wealthy.

It does seem that being popular and being liked is the goal to achieve, but if I told you to look at how you're spending your time and resources - you would probably think again!

Personally, I'm lucky that I have two very spiteful sisters. One of them tells everyone she meets that I'm a liar and they shouldn't believe anything I say. Then just to make her own personal Soap Opera more fun, she makes up stories about me that are untrue, and finishes it off with "but if you ask her, she'll deny it because she's a liar!"

This scenario has wound me up for years.

But now, as I'm gathering my resources to buy a retirement apartment in a 5 star complex, I'm very, very grateful - thank you for protecting me from these free-loaders who wanted me to pay their bar bills!

Being Rejected Gives You Freedom

Not having to live up to anyone else's ridiculous standards gives you wonderful freedom.

I used to volunteer in the village and that was met with sarcasm and scepticism - how ungrateful.

I Think They Were Asking: Why was I volunteering? What was I after? Was I trying to deceive my neighbours?

NO, the truth was that all I wanted was a nice life. Years ago I read Dale Carnegie's book 'How to win friends and influence people'.

Dale's philosophy was based on 'if you help people with their struggles and challenges' they will be grateful to you and like you. Not always!

Some people are so mean spirited they think you have a hidden agenda and can't recognise your good character, and love for humanity.

My other sister is just as spiteful.

Her mantra is: 'Treat 'em mean, Keep 'em keen". I adapted that and said "Treat 'em mean, Lose the dream."

I introduced her to mystery shopping, once a very profitable side hustle. She lived in the next town, but would grab assignments in my area just so that I couldn't take them ... Yeah, thanks for that!

Her biggest disaster came when her son went to work in the City of London for a trader a few years ago. She phoned me up and asked if I'd heard of Bitcoin. I told her I'd just sold my Bitcoin, her response was "NO, you shouldn't sell your Bitcoin, it's going to be $100,000 - my son knows what he's talking about."

So, like a gullible idiot I bought the currency again shortly after, only to see it crash - if only I had faith in my own intuition and not trusted her. After I rebought the currency it took me months to recover my initial investment.

Now she's complaining about the amount of retirement properties being built.

DOES NOBODY LOOK AT THE FIGURES ON THE OFFICE OF NATIONAL STATISTICS?

The most successful generation, the Baby Boomers, are now retiring. My generation rebuilt Britain after the destruction caused by World War II, it wasn't a walk in the park by any means.

My sister is now having to go cap-in-hand to the council to claim fuel allowance after our Government abolished the benefit for retired people.

THEY CAN FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO PAY FOR THEIR ALCHOLISM

Saving on Food and Alcohol for this bunch of alcoholics and free-loaders has saved a fortune! They all love to drink Champagne, and if anyone serves cheap Champagne they're shunned.

I've never had anyone support me, in fact I've supported others.

But I'm glad because now I'm independent and wealthy and don't have to rely on charity.

What would have happened if I'd had the financial support others enjoy? It would probably make me entitled, weak and pathetic!

SO BE GLAD TO STAND ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET.
