Hidden Vegan Gems
What to know about some great vegan dessert spots in Kansas City? I've got some hidden AMAZON spots you've may want to check out!

Now let me just tell you I absolutely love this challenge because I have another excuse to eat and this girl just loves to eat, so when I heard about this Eat Local Challenge, your girl was very excited about this opportunity to eat and write about my local restaurant here in Kansas City.
Now recently this year I have decided to go vegan just for a better lifestyle, which has not been the easiest journey to accomplish because this girl can eat some meat! So going vegan has been extremely hard for me and I'll admit there has been some slip-up, but I have become more than a conqueror and now I can proudly say, "I am officially Vegan and no meat for me."

When doing this challenge, I decided to explore the area for the best vegan DESERTS options (since I got my recent vegan card, LOL) to satisfy my sweet tooth, which was exceptionally fun to do because I mean who does not like to eat desserts! For this challenge, I choose to explore three places locally in my area that I thought were worth a try!
First Option: Betty Rae's Ice Cream

Okay for my first Vegan Sweet adventure I decided to stop at this place called, "Betty Rae’s Ice Cream." This place has so many fantastic, fresh, vegan, homemade ice cream flavors that sound amazing but for this venture I chose a cup mixture of Smores, Vanilla Bean and Strawberry and let me just say, “every bite was heavenly.” You might say I am being dramatic because of the common flavors I got but let me tell you, “The flavors might be common, but they were very appetizing to eat.” The s’mores flavor tasted like I was eating an actual s’more. A chocolatey, marshmallow savory goodness! The Vanilla bean was another delicious flavor. It had a very rich vanilla/custard taste that was to die for and a pleasant treat. And the strawberries were absolutely yummy finished to this marvelous, sweet treat. By far, out of the three my favorite was the s’more flavor. Overall, my taste buds really enjoyed this tasty treat and soon I will with be coming back here again !

Second Option:Cupcake A La Mode

My second stop on this delicious adventure was to a place I discovered called, “Cupcake A La Mode,” which had a fun selection of cupcakes. At this place I found many delicious and indulgent cupcakes at this stop. Since everything basically looked good here, I choose a few to taste for this sweet feast: ChocoLatte, Bella Nutella, Strawberries & Crème, and Mama Mia. The Mama Mia tast like I was drinking a fine cup of coffee on a wonderful mourning. The Strawberries and Crème was a sweet and creamy moist flavorful strawberry cupcake. The Bella Nutella cupcake was a treat, but I wasn’t too happy about the icing, but the cake part was scrumptious. Last, but not least the ChocoLatte which I did not really like at all because it was unsatisfactory. The cake part was kind of hard, the icing was terrible and the only good part I like was the little piece of waffle stick at the top, so I will most definitely not be getting this kind again. But out of all the cupcakes I tried that day I like the Strawberries & Crème flavor the most.

Third Option: Insomnia Cookies

Now I saved the worst for last, and I say worst not because of the taste of the treat but because of the bad experience I had here, that store was called Insomnia Cookies. So, when I walk in the employee said that is was going to be about a 30 minutes wait for any item I would like to purchase because she is out of everything and have to bake it in the oven. Which did not really upset me. No what upset me was how poorly she was treated. Come to find out she was the only one their when she clocked in. The guy before her just left her by herself and left her with no cookies already made. So, she came into some chaotic mess. When she was telling everyone that it will be a 30-minute wait for their orders people just left so I felt bad for her. I really wanted to try out some of their vegan cookie’s options, so I stayed. About 20 minutes later, she asked me what I wanted. After I told her what I wanted she told me that their was no vegan options available except the vegan double chocolate chips, so I just took that and left. I really felt bad for the girl and just prayed and hope her day will get better. The cookie I purchase was good but the poorly way she was treated just ruined my appetite so I was not too happy when I was eating it and could not really enjoyed it. So yeah, this place was a downer to this sweet adventure, but all is well. Just because of this bad experience I probably will not be stopping by this store anytime soon, if ever.

So that was my very rememberable vegan sweet tooth journey for this challenge. If your ever in Kansas City Mo, you should defintely check out the first two options I mention. Maybe even Insomnia Coolies if you dare, hopefully you will have a better experience than I had. As always thanks for reading and if you like please feel free to show this girl some love by liking it. Tips are always appreciated and welcome. This is my 3rd story here on this lovely Vocal Platform, but it will not be my last.
