I love traveling to different cities and towns in different states and just immerse myself into the city culture. A couple of weeks ago, I took a much needed birthday vacation to Glenwood Springs to get away from life in 2020. I stayed in Glenwood Springs for 3 days. There are so many tourist things to do there. Glenwood Springs is most known for their hot springs. But I’m writing this article to shed light on the food scene there. Now I love to eat and try new restaurants. For the 3 days that I was in town, I tried a new restaurant for every meal. When I got into town on the first day, there were many options to choose from. I just got off a 6 hour train ride there so I was very tired and didn’t want to travel far for a meal. Right next to the Glenwood Springs train station was a burger bar called The Grind.

It is a pretty awesome bar. There are many drink Options at the bar if you want to drink your problems away. I am personally not a drinker so I stuck with water and soda. Now there are many burgers, salads and appetizers to choose from. You can get a black bean burger if you want to eat healthier or you can get a double meat burger with lots of toppings. I was pretty hungry and decided on getting the double burger. There are also lots of appetizers you can get. There is chili cheese fries, fries, onion rings, Mac and cheese, coleslaw, house salad, fruits for the Healthy people. Since I was so hungry, I wanted everything because it all sounded so good but my wallet but not be happy with me. I was deciding between the chili cheese fries or the Mac and cheese but ended up getting the Mac and cheese instead. The server taking care of me was super friendly and courteous and my food took only 10 minutes to get out to me so it didn’t take long to get my food. The food was amazing. I wound up eating the food within minutes because I was so hungry.

Outside of the Grind restaurant, there are also many other options to eat. The Grind is located in historic downtown Glenwood so there were many other restaurant in the vicinity. I didn’t get to try them all but if I ever go back to that city I’ll try to hit them all.

Another restaurant I really liked was the Italian Underground. Like the name suggests, the restaurant is really underground. I decided to go there for dinner on my birthday. The prices on the menu is a little on the heavier side but I didn’t care since it was my birthday and I wanted to spoil myself a little. There were many options you can choose from. You can get pizza, spaghetti, and many other Italian dishes there. I wasn’t feeling pizza on my birthday and decided to get the spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti and meatballs was around 16 dollars! That’s a lot for a bowl of spaghetti but it was so worth it. You can tell it was authentic Italian food too. What’s cool about the restaurant is that you can see the cooks cook it in front of you too. After the spaghetti and meatballs, I was craving some cheesecake and decided to get some. I told the waitress it was my birthday and I wanted to treat myself to some desert and got the cheesecake. The cheesecake was delicious. They put a lot of whipped cream on it and it was amazing. The server decided to give the whole meal for me which I was not expecting at all. That was so kind of her. I ended up giving her a $20 tip for her great service!

There are a lot of other great restaurants in Glenwood Springs but I just wanted to shed light on these 2 specific ones. If you’re ever in Glenwood Springs, Colorado I highly recommend you try The Grind and the Italian Underground! You won’t regret it.
