4 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD EAT A SALAD EVERY DAY

1. A NATURAL FIBER SOURCE

Your leafy greens and raw veggies are a superb source of natural fiber, and consuming enough fiber each day has several health advantages:

Fiber helps to reduce LDL or “bad” cholesterol.

It helps to control blood sugar.

Adequate fiber intake helps with weight loss and healthy weight maintenance.

It normalizes bowel movements, and aids in the prevention of bowel disease.

Proper fiber intake has been shown to reduce the recurrence and prevention of a number of cancers including colorectal, breast, mouth, throat and esophagus.

2.NUTRITIONAL BENEFITS OF FRESH FRUIT AND VEGETABLES

We've all heard that fresh fruits and vegetables are important for our health and well-being, but it's good to be reminded of it now and then. "A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect on blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check," according to a Harvard School of Public Health article (2).

It's critical to consume a wide range of fresh fruits and vegetables in as many colors as possible. It's simple and wonderful to combine them in a salad. Salads are high in vitamins and minerals, and eating one every day will boost the amount of strong antioxidants in your blood.

Leafy greens, the foundation of any salad, are loaded with nutrients. Kale, spinach, beet greens, watercress, and Romaine lettuce are among the best super greens (3). Add fresh dandelion greens and mizuna to make it a little more interesting.

Fruits and vegetables of the "red" family have a particularly high nutritional value. Produce with orange, purple, red, or burgundy flesh falls into this category. Tomatoes, red and orange peppers, carrots, strawberries, nectarines, peaches, plums, blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, and pomegranates are some of the fruits that fall under this category.

Carotenoids are a group of chemicals derived from plant colors such as yellow, orange, and red. This comprises beta-carotene, lycopene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, as well as all of vitamin A's many chemical forms. All of these have been scientifically proven to have good impacts, as well as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

3. EAT LOTS OF SALADS FOR WEIGHT LOSS

If you eat a fiber-rich salad before your entree, you'll feel fuller faster and consume fewer calories than if you don't. The more raw vegetables you can include in your salad, the more favorable impacts you can expect.

4. A DAILY SALAD WILL HELP YOU GET MORE HEALTHY FATS IN YOUR DIET

To increase your daily dose of beneficial fats, add a couple of teaspoons of mixed raw or roasted seeds like pumpkin, sesame, sunflower, powdered flax or chia. Experiment with different types of oils in your dressings to see what works best.

You may also enhance your nutrition by slicing a quarter of an avocado and adding it to your vegetables. These foods also aid in the absorption of all protecting substances, phytochemicals, and lutein by the body.

Adding a healthy fat to your salad, whether in the form of a dressing or by adding healthy raw nuts or avocado, will make it more satisfying, as fats are among the most satiating foods.
