Game Day Snacks
Quick and delicious savory snacks and meals for game day

Every year my immediate family settles down in front of the television to enjoy the Superbowl. My dad watches it for the game, while most of us are there to catch up and watch the commercials. Somehow, we always agree that pizza, soda, and crunchy snacks will always be ready for the hungry group. I'm here to share some quick to prepare Superbowl grub that saves you preparation time without losing out on flavor.
I have a delicious pizza recipe, handed down from family members. While we love it, we don't always have the time to make the dough. Want to enjoy the game instead of cook all day? A no rise crust is what you need. This recipe has become a family favorite in my house, as it can be whipped together in under thirty minutes, but still has the flavor and crusty texture of a traditional pie. This comes from Missy over at All Recipes.
No Yeast Pizza Recipe:
2 2/3 Cups All-Purpose Flour or Gluten-Free Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Cup Milk or Milk Substitute
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
Directions: Mix dry ingredients well, then add wet ingredients. Using a paddle attachment on a stand mixer works great here. The original author notes to let it rest ten minutes, however I don't bother and it turns out great. Oil two pizza pans, and roll out the dough into two circles. Try to get them as thin as possible for the best crust results. Bake at 400F until still slightly doughy (about 8 minutes,) and top with sauce and your favorite toppings. Return to the oven for twelve to twenty minutes, depending on crust thickness and toppings.
We love pairing pizza with Pepsi or Coke, however Coors and Bud-Lite pair just as well.
Want easy, crispy wings? I've worked at several restaurants where wings are huge sellers. Not a surprise with the infinite combination of sauces, and that crispy, juicy interior. Mmmm. The process is crazy easy, and you can prep wings days in advance, tossing them in the fryer before you are ready to serve.
Crispy Wings
5 Lbs raw chicken wings (you can find these in the frozen section of your supermarket cheaper than the fresh section, in most cases.)
Your favorite dipping sauces, be it blue cheese or ranch (or none!)
Several bottles of wing sauce (Usually in the condiment section at your local supermarket.)
Celery for serving
Directions: Clean and slice celery into sticks. Place the celery in a container of water and refrigerate for up to seven days.
Line a sheet pan with tin foil, and place a wire rack on top. Liberally spray the rack with cooking spray (if you do not have a wire rack, just spray the tin foil liberally.)
Place the wings on the tray, leaving some space between each one. Bake at 425F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the internal temperature registers 165F.
The wings can now be frozen, or refrigerated for later use.
To cook the wings for serving, preheat your fryer between 375F and 400F. Make sure frozen wings are thawed before frying. Cook for five minutes, or until crispy and the internal temperature is 150F or higher.
Split up the wings and toss in different wing sauces. Serve on a platter with dairy-based dips and celery sticks.
These wings pair well with dairy-based dips as dairy helps dull the burn from spicy foods (which wing sauces tend to be.) They are delightful without and work equally well with vegan dips. This recipe will serve around eight people or five men with large appetites.
I hope these recipes are helpful in saving you some time this Game Day! Use that extra time saved from cooking and take a break (or a nap.)
